A Call To Arms

Well, I haven't seen many 3dmm films lately but that was pretty darn good. I'm using Windows XP and occasionally some things would be out of sync but not too badly.

The storyline? Reminded me a bit of Enemy at the Gates with the sniper... don't know why. Worked quite well - you did develop a feeling for the characters. I would have liked to see some more Spazzy he wasn't bad in the serious role. Was that Jeff Ching and Brad I heard in the movie? Their acting was above average for them too.

As for the animation a bit rushed as Andres has admitted he has worked hard to get the movie out the door over the last few days but overall very good with smooth camera movement and the like. The FX were good, I liked the car Andres made too. Scenery also seemed very good although occasionally a little bland.

Overall, a very enjoyable movie . Though not RIGHT UP THERE with Andres' best, it isn't that far below. With animation fully polished and the bland scenery tarted up - as well as a few more scenes of non-fighting, I figure this movie would be about 9.5 but ... 8.9/10 ... is what I give it. A must-see though.

Wow, the only thing amayzing I can see about this film is all the ass kissing it produced. Is everyone just afraid to give it a low mark? Most of the written reviews seem to look like the reviewer thought the movie was about 6/10 or so, but you all gave it around 8!

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you all did truley enjoy it as much as all the other 8/10 movies out there, but I know for sure, I didn't.

Reviewshort
The whole movie was a mess, the storyline was weak, the characters were puppets, the cinematography was quite bad, and the sound effects were horrible. The only thing I found in this movie that is above average was the animation, the raw details and scene backdrops, but thats about it.

The whole thing seemed so childish and naive. Plain and simple it was an action movie made boring because the director tried to make it a drama. It almost came off as a comedy because of how lame the characters were. As well the whole time the cinematography was so horrible you felt pushed away, as were the camera angles.

Andres needed to spend a lot more time touching up this movie, and doing some editing. He said so himself, it was rushed.

3/5

well jon the majority of the movie was action. Even though the dialogue wasn't the greatest, the action was extremely well done, with great scenery and shaking cameras, that the action completely makes up for the other flaws.

I thought the far away camera angles gave a sense of how big the town was and somehow, it also gave me the feeling of a ghost town... which, to me, added to atmposphere

I personally liked the cinematography, the camera angles seemed rather decent to me, especially in the last few scenes with the general.

Oh right, I left that part out. I loved the ending, it itself was 4.5 star caliber, but everything before hand did nothing for me.

Now that I have time, I'll actually post a proper review:

A Call To Arms... By Andres

War, what is it good for absolutely nothing, but making 3DMM movies.
Indeed this was a very good movie, very well detailed etc etc but here are the basic pros and cons of the movie:

Pros:
Good animation, GREAT music, FANTASTIC detail

Cons:
Unrealistic (very), Too quick for a war movie, stupid

Also, who did those German translations? Is he/she german? Cause they were fucked UP. Please don't tell me he/she used one of those translators on Altavista and shit

No, i did not use Altavista - and im not German, i just study it.
i looked through my books and Auf Deutsch for the words, and i used my own knowledge. I may not be very good, but i saw this as some good practice for me....

I have two problems with this film, it was too quick and most of the voice actors were horrible. Especially Andrew Metcalf, my god, you don't do the Prof. Spaz voice in a "serious" war movie!!

...aside from that, it was pretty good, it was awesome how there was hardly any static shots. The camera was generally always moving, that was sweet.

I think you should've run it through a bit hardy Alan, I mean, I swear I heard you say "forward".

But as I said, that I didn't mind too much, it was the shitty voice acting. And the fact it was much to full of action for a war movie.

Yeah, if you care, this is what I think of it...

A Call to Arms- Andres de la Hoz

Overall, the movie was fairly good. The voice acting was a bit hard to understand in some points because of background noise, though. In one scene, the voices started to overlap each other, thus making it so you couldn't understand what either character was saying. That made it a little confusing.

What I liked most about it were the camera angles and scenery. It gave the viewer a sense of how the town was and how it would have felt to be in it.

I enjoyed it. I give it a 4.5/5.

In deph Diagnosis of ACTA

One of the few major things that Andrez does well is raise the bar in all of his movies. In ACTA we have seen a far superior amount of animation. Everything is detailed carefully, specifically, and deliberatly. The story was simple. An assassin going after a general, but Andrez you forgot one thing, the people at the camp. We hear a conversation from them for about a minute or so and really dont know so much about them. Although it really does not matter becuase they all die within 5 mins. I really wish I could have gotten to know the people better. There were a few flaws, just voice overlapping which angered me a little, but the action scenes make up for that. I liked the ending, that proably has to be one of the best 3dmm endings of all time. Andrez always raises the bar (Assylum, Dead Heart In A Dead World) and now raises it even more with Acta. Even though I enjoyed the movie I have to hate it. Cuz now I gotta make my movies look as good as that........SHIT!

A Call To Arms
8/10
Fuck...I hate you Andrez now I have to work on my movies two times as hard...
