The Unthinkable Escape (UNFINISHED)
Plot Summary:
Two unlikely allies find themselves trapped in Nazi Germany's deadliest prison. Using their unique skills, they hatch a plan to break out, unthinkably.

Yeah, it is what it is. This is that project I shared about a year or so ago and unfortunately it's getting cancelled

This thing started production back in late 2023, with the process of animating it starting around early 2024. It was going strong until early 2025, when a combination of irl responsibilities and animating other 3dmm-related projects pulled me away from it for a while. I always told myself I'd come back to it but I never did, and now ive decided to scrap it.

Why? A few reasons, but it mostly comes down to the project just being way too ambitious to realistically finish. The "plot" (which honestly is at its most boring in the scenes ive already completed) had enough going on that the movie would've ended up being feature lengthed (around 2 hours). I was originally down for that challenge because I was genuinely passionate about it for a good year or so until I really started thinking about what actually finishing it would take. If I locked in, id be sinking a ton of time into tediously animating a movie that would only be watched by a very specific niche community that's been rapidly shrinking lately (for example, when I started, a newly released movie would get around 10 or 15 different people commenting on it, now it's more like 4 maybe 7 if youre lucky). Its also the fact that this just wouldnt pull in an audience outside of said community. And with real-life responsiblities about to step in real soon id basically be neglecting that to pour time into something thats just a ridiculously tedious hobby.

Theres also the fact that the script was just pretty bare bones. It was written back in 2023 and while the concepts are dumb in a good way and clearly werent meant to be taken seriously, the script itself is dull and not very memorable dialogue wise, at least to me. So finishing it would mean either restructuring the whole thing from the ground up or continuing to animate a three year old script, neither of which I want to really do currently.

I really would've loved to finish this since besides the dull script there WERE some genuinely fun and bonkers concepts in the latter half of the plot that I was looking forward to animating, but with how things are going I dont think it was ever meant to be.

Pretentious wall of text aside, heres whatever I finished for the movie. The google drive consists the raw 3dmm file (which WILL need the custom dustin guest pallete for it to look the way it does in the video, so if you can find it and implement it via 3dmm pencil, please use it before booting up the v3mm file)

NOTE: Half of the voices (Agent Claber, Colonel Frankfurt) were contributed by the talented Derpolopolis, who is STILL working on his movies. So please watch those once they come out.

I haven't watched it yet but I've heard so much about this through the grape vine and mixed with that thumbnail I think this is the saddest cancelation since ttt3.

A movie so impressive that I managed to come back from the dead just to watch it.

Genuinely sad that it's cancelled but I can see where you're coming from in terms of your reason for why.

A little goofy for my tastes, but the animation was superb. Very well done! The voice acting was excellent too. Would love to see a serious short movie from you

Damn, this looks incredible. It’s a true shame you couldn’t finish it.

Holy crap, this is the most well realized 3dmm movie I've seen. EVERY scene flows so well. And the orchestral background music actually blends in with what's happening! The entire thing is just so well directed. It's like Dustin Guest meets Bugs Bunny, I actually like the Freddy addition to the movie since it pokes fun at the "serious" genre of 3dmm that I'm not a huge fan of. Even though it's a silly movie that isn't really meant to be taken too seriously the entire thing is structured like an actual one, that honestly makes it so much more impressive. I'm sad this isn't finished but i really enjoyed what was left of it. If Andres watched this movie he'd probably get an aneurysm.

I thought everyone was exaggerating but this is really the best animation I've ever seen in 3dmm. You really know how to work well with 3dmms 6fps limits and I frequently couldn't believe how smooth it was. I usually don't particularly enjoy "realistic" 3DMM films but in this case I think it works extremely well considering the juxtaposition of Freddy Fazbear being in it. I don't know if the intention was to parody films like Winter or anything but it does an excellent job turning stuff like that on it's head. My only issue is that frequently (mostly early on), I had a very hard time understanding what anyone was saying a lot of the time. The thick accents and goofy voices mixed with reverb under 3dmms compression does not mix very well. I also thought the last bit was a liiiiiiitle boring considering how much goofy shit is in the middle of it, and that was the stuff I really liked. The boxing segment is the best part. I still appreciated the 'serious' bits for pacing reasons of course, and I'm sure if it was finished I would grow to like them more for the story. I think this was one of if not the most "actual movie" feeling 3dmm films I've ever seen.

The movie is very fun and cool and I really wish this was finished . I think it unironically would've been one of my favorites lol. This is the best released thing in a long time. To all newbs reading this and havent watched it WATCH IT!!!!
