MoonJug
Lt Films's Avatar
Plot Summary:
5 Years after killing a sheriff's wife, Charles "Boneyard" Houser (or Charles "Moonjug" Houser) finds a quiet town called Greenfield to settle down in. He finds out the husband of the woman he killed is Sheriff Pluckett. What will happen next? You find out.

So, after 6 months of waiting on the edge of your seats... IT'S OUT! I've worked on this off and on and I'm proud to finally present it to you. Everything is written, animated, and voice acted by yours truly. (there will be a director's cut in the future where I have people of the community voice act in an extended cut of this movie.)

I thought it was pretty good! I think it was a good idea and liked the little world you set up. I think this movie should've been a bit longer. The main conflict is set up really quickly in kind of a weird way. I think him walking in and shooting her randomly is a lame way to handle the story. I think it should've been more complicated than that, and the ending was a tad unsatisfying. However, I did like the general aesthetic and concept, and the dialogue was pretty charming. I also think you've really improved your scenery and general style of movie making. (Except for the over reliance on v3dmm props for bottles and doors. I think you should make those sorts of things yourself.) The audio is really the only thing you still struggle with, the sound effects were often way too loud and the songs would cut out awkwardly or sometimes be way too loud while the characters were speaking. I think you should edit the audio to fade out at the correct time or lower the volume. Finding instrumental versions would also help during talking scenes. The music you picked was quite fitting though. The intro was kind of a highlight for me. I really liked the idea of the pictures; the original stuff you made in v3dmm was all quite good.

One thing that icks me about the movie is that the dialogue goes on for way toooooo long. Whenever they speak from one dude to another they always go on this same animation and it gets very tiring. Music drowns the acting a bit, but i dont mind it. The camera pans need a little bit of work. They remind me of Blob War. The timing is verry awkward. Characters react way too slowly. And this movie has too many camera pans.
The ending is very sudden.

However, i liked the scene design, and the shots you made. It drowns out the awkwardness for a bit! I especially liked the intro part of the movie the best, with the picture shots of the town. The acting is on point too, i'd love to hear more of it in the future.

Call me crazy or something, but i don't think this movie is fully realized yet (don't worry, people said the same about my works too) But what you've done here is good enough for release i suppose. It's better than the later Liminal Spaces sequels I should say.
I'd give it a 55.
Actually, this movie reminds me of Town with no name in a good way, so i'll give it a 60.

I'll start off by saying that the intro was fantastic. You did a great job at setting up the scene and (pretty good) story with it. But after the big setup, it felt like you didn't do much with it. The dialogue scenes were pretty slow and boring most of the time, and the voice acting wasn't the best either. The audio was either really distorted or too quiet which made for a somewhat difficult viewing experience. That's fine though because it added a nice charm to the characters. Speaking of the characters, they were very enjoyable. The scenes and town were very nice to look at as well. You did good with the animation even if some camera pans were a tad janky. Those never bothered me though. I felt like by the end there were a lot of unanswered questions and loose ends left untied. Like I'm a little upset we never figured out why the main guy killed the sheriff's wife. The ending where the sheriff gets killed was kind of unsatisfying, and didn't feel like the best place to end the movie. It was somewhat abrupt. I want to know what happened afterward and what "Moonjug's" karma was at the end. Overall, though, I think this is your best work, and I'm excited to see what you do next. Nice job man.

I like how you guys are just using the spoiler tag to say negative stuff lol.

You did good LT, I liked it but for gods sake the audio is real rough. It switches between good to quiet as fuck with like every other line and it’s often drowned out by the music. Sound does a lot of the heavy lifting in movies so you gotta get that right. Also those black borders are weird bub. Story was fun although maybe a little too Marketplacey. The scenery and mods I found charming, guess I could say that about the whole movie

Most of my review has actual spoilers but I figured it'd be annoying to use multiple spoiler tags, so I just blacked out the whole thing. I liked it despite how negative I may have sounded lol.

I fixed the .zip file for this movie because the fucking "Greenville Morgue" text was still present around the second half of the final scene before the credits.
