what is your plan in life?

The benefits aren't terrible depending on where you end up in the military. You better hope you don't get deployed to fight in some zog war, however. I also admire your sense of family but maybe your dad needs to fix his own house instead of either directly or indirectly putting that pressure on you, a high school student, which I imagine is stressful and will wire you for stress the rest of your life.

As far as my life plan goes, it's rather pointless to make plans isn't it? Climbing the property ladder or whatever, my "40 square acres and a mule", I will defer to Joseph Campbell, he is more eloquent than I:

as far as joining the military goes, i say go for it, some young men just want a sense of adventure. I was the same way. Your experiences will profoundly change you, and you will no longer be able to relate to most people from back home, but you will also be a stronger person for it
