3DMM House Party
by Jaymond

Quote:
Jon Sprow returns to the community and interacts with many of 2005's regular posters during a house party.

Video provided by Funny Bones

Original thread

Jaymond is probably the best voice actor in 3dmm history (maybe second to Dustin) and was also an incredibly funny guy. Here, both talents are on display, and you also get a really fun snapshot of what the community was like in 2005. Some bits are pretty oof now, but hey, it was 2005. You wanna cancel a 3dmm movie from 2005? Get outta here.

The Dance of the Firefly
by Richard Bevis

Quote:
An old and saddened Japanese woman is led by magic to explore the full beauty and depth of the world in which she lives.

Video provided by Funny Bones

Original thread

Although Richard Bevis is most known now for floating around his local cinema, he was also a prolific 3dmm director with a gorgeous visual style. Once described by Aaron Haynes as "probably the most beautiful looking film ever created with this program", this is a wonderful example of how v3dmm can create remarkable images that weren't possible before, and of Bevis' aesthetic flair (and somewhat corny storytelling). I highly recommend you go check out some of his other movies after this.

Haha I hadn't seen 3dmm House Party. A lot of the jokes I didn't get since much of the humor revolves around people who were before my time, but Jaymond is so entertaining a performer that it almost doesn't matter. Good stuff!

Also, for some reason I thought Mike Storch was Australian, but I guess he's American.

Date Rape
by Jeff Ching

Quote:
Intending to leave the country for Mexico shortly after, a young man orchestrates a plan to have his way with a young woman.

I mean, look. There had to be a Jeff Ching movie somewhere, and this is the shortest and probably the least shit one. So enjoy this introduction to one of 3dmm's least talented and most puerile members.

Ahahaha that was awesome. That shocking twist was incredible!

Also lhh @ Ching needing someone else to make those not exactly state-of-the-art bar and laundry room scenes.

Also finally watched Dance of the Firefly. It was exceptionally well put together, but, having seen several of his movies, I thought the story was very predictably wholesome and bevis-ey. I liked Date Rape more. * gets date raped for ridiculous movie preferences *

Moderately Confused
by Orcus

Quote:

Video provided by Funny Bones - you might have to download this one cos it big

Original thread

This is one of the best and most ambitious movies ever put together in this program. A hilarious feature-length heist movie with excellent characters (voiced by the closest 3dmm has ever come to an all-star cast - Jaymond! Dustin! Jeremy Dick! Jeff Ching!), beautiful pre-v3dmm scenery, and great pacing. It's criminal that this isn't held in higher esteem by noobs, so let's try and change that, shall we?

Death of the Newbie
by JP, Josh Byrd, Gorosaurus, and Fredrick Arnoy

Quote:
A compiled series of shorts from some of 2002's most promising newbies. And also Josh Byrd, whoever that is. Starts with a Doom 2 preview.

Original thread

A really fun anthology movie and a reminder to the current members that even some of the community's towering figures now were once newbs showing promise just like yourselves. Goro's entry is especially good, with his mastery of animation on full display before Ninja Gaiden would come and blow people away later in the year.
