Bernatrick/Fish Taco (1989-2020)

Long time since I’ve been on here. I just wanted to come and let everyone know that Patrick passed away this past July.

I had been friends with Patrick for years - starting on this site and eventually moving into real life. He was the main reason I moved to Toronto. He was even the best man at my wedding.

Over the years it became more and more difficult to be his friend, and it eventually got to a point where I made it clear to him that if he couldn’t get clean we couldn’t be friends anymore.

I hadn’t spoken to him in about 3 years and yesterday I woke up and he crossed my mind - as he often does - but this time it felt weird and I had this gut feeling he was gone. I went to his Facebook page and didn’t see anything, then I googled his name and found out he had died.

This is an extremely sad situation and I’m still trying to process all the feelings that have come up. It’s fucked up because I probably would have never spoken to him again, and yet this has hit me so hard.

I just wanted to post this and let everyone know what had happened in case you weren’t aware of it yet.

Oh wow, I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm facebook friends with him so I'm surprised I didn't notice this (his fb page clearly mentions it when I view it. Maybe you're looking at a different account?). Anyway, man. This sucks.

I had deleted him off facebook after some of the messages he was sending me and I don't think that information is available if you aren't friends with the person. Or I just missed it.

That's tragic- such a shame. Thank you for letting us know.

I know that it won't make things "OK" to know what happened, but for what it's worth it sounds like you were a valued friend to him for a big portion of his life. That's a pretty solid contribution!
