New Years resolutions never work and anyways why wait until the beginning of a year to accomplish your goals

Because pretending like you’re going to accomplish goals gives most people a little shot of dopamine

And it also helps accomplish goals.

The idea is that on NYE you celebrate the goals you accomplished which then helps give motivation to set new ones for the following year. Obviously you can do this on any day but sometimes it is more fun to align it with the new year because of the atmosphere

You should also make some more music, someone had bumped that "Luminance EP" thread and I liked the music inside.

Doing the same thing there Nickson, started early in fact, already about two weeks weed free. Honestly I don't really crave it at all. I've really just gotten bored with it and have been frustrated by the lack of focus. I'm looking forward to partaking a few times a month and it seeming special again, but I'm never going back to daily (I hope).

I've probably never set a New Year's resolution, and the whole thing is kind of trite. If I have a goal at any point in the year, I set it and try to achieve it. If I don't succeed, I lacked the motivation and clearly the goal wasn't that important to me. If I do succeed, then great. I don't take failure too hard. I also try to live an uncomplicated life without much room for failure. I spend all day every day at work setting and meeting goals so, to be honest, I'm a bit burned out on that and found that living life organically works way better for me. Probably my only significant goal at this time, beyond the obvious fundamental ones like staying healthy, keeping my job, etc., is buying a massive amount of property somewhere secluded and developing a cabin or mini homestead there. I'm not committing myself to it that much so it'll probably never get done.

I don't have any New Year's resolutions, in fact I never do, simply because I'm too lazy to come up with some and also because I'd never have the motivation to follow through with them if I ever did come up with any.

This. This is exactly why I never make them.

I wanted to learn to weld and learn to airbrush this year, and I accomplished the first one, so that counts for a fair bit, I suppose.

Next year I'm thinking I might give leatherworking a shot? Maybe blacksmithing, dunno.

Also I've got a couple games that have a pretty hard Jan 2022 deadline so I guess I'd ought to work on those!

Good luck to everyone trying to quit weed! I kicked it in Feb 2019 after many years of smoking a lot every day and it has helped me a lot
