If it's lower back pain due to sitting/some injuries/being inactive, which I assume would be the cause for most people here, it's likely the tightening of your lower extremities. Stretch out that psoas muscle regularly.

It's our stage of life, Allergic. For the first time in my life I "pulled" my back out earlier this year. Just lifting a gas can caused a "tinge" that sent me to the floor. Just awful.

I don't have any prevention techniques that you don't already know--theoretically stretch before exercise and have a balanced diet. It's just our reality that this creeps up more and more.

For 'cures,' I recommend naproxin sodium to the legal limit. The magic bullet that spared me a lot of pain was a muscle zapper thing-- it sends electric pulses into muscle groups. It's as close to a night and day difference as I have ever experienced with an affliction (excepting Afrin, which is just magic).

Thus, if you pull your back out and can't move, have one of those muscle zappers ready. They won't cure the pain but they will improve you back to, say, 40% or even 60%, instead of the 3% you'd get just getting through it normally.

Daily stretching designed for your back will probably help a lot. I got fucked up back pain a few years back that was debilitating. Nothing helped until I began stretching. It went away entirely after a few weeks of that. Then I stopped stretching and it never came back, so I have no idea wtf even happened in the first place but it felt like I needed surgery. Literally unable to bend over, so painful I almost threw up a couple times.

Get one of those foam back rollers. They seem kinda gay but they're actually pretty good
