Yes, without a doubt.
It was the other big factor aside from the ‘16 election and people getting old and having families.

To be honest, not really for younger generations. It's simpler for us to chat in real time than to use a forum, since all of our friends have discord and such already. Plus, most knowledgeable users are already on the forums anyways, so when I have a question which can't be answered then I advise users to check out the forums. Most users of reddit and such are coming from the forums, not to them. Just to be sure, I pinned a link to the site at the very top of the subreddit.

BR is probably right. Other options to connect with people, all of us getting older, changing priorities, and differing politics and personalities. Hell, I've almost bailed multiple times over politics. But, where the hell else am I going to release a 3dmm movie?

I don't know why politics wasn't banned like music and religion. The community saw the damage these threads caused and banned them. Why the fuck was 3dmm ever a place to argue about politics?

It's the craziest shit to come back to after 6 years.

80 percent of tweets come from 10 percent of users that's why only lunatics like bown use it.
Facebook just makes people miserable and sites like reddit are over moderated trash that forces people into groupthink.

Its not 3dmm that died it's the internet that did.

Not officially, they were just kind of.... closed after each time they were filled with arguments. It was kind of a non official agreement: Music and religion debates only end in trouble.

theres a bunch of fun small communities still going on... yeah mainstream general purpose ones suck but theres lots of good stuff out there that is formed around particular interests like 3dmm was. 3dmm just died cause our group mostly did. a bunch of the creative people and bigger personalities gradually moved on. the mainstream internet of course is lame and you can get banned from easily, its all about the smaller cool communities, like 3dmm once was

but yes, social media did help to kill 3dmm.com. a lot of the low-level online posting/browsing comes from a point of loneliness/boredom to a degree, and most of this is easily let out on social media instead of 3dmm.com. and you can still get a sense of a community with your twitter mutuals or whatever, its just more open

Social media is designed to sell products to the 2015 people and that's about all it is good for

I feel like a lot of forums in general have been "killed" it's a very niche form of communicating online these days. I think I'm gonna make an effort to post more tho. Love this community and esp love space goat for keeping this place alive.

online gaming and social media were meant to connect more people. but ironically its made us more isolated than ever before. we have limitless information at our hands. but we also have misinformation due to that
