What will happen to 3dmm and the forum?

It's been about 20 years for the longest standing members here. Kind of wild to think about. Some of us have probably known each other longer - online, at least - than people in our real lives. Will the forum go another 20 years? What happens when Spacegoat dies? Has he made arrangements to pass the domain on to someone else? For those who are still active, do you intend to ever leave and, if so, would it be for any specific reason? Can you envision yourself posting here up until the very end, at age 70 or whatever? If you have kids, will you show them 3dmm/your movies?

Spacegoat hasn’t really been present for a while now, he fixes the odd technical stuff but I don’t think he wants much to do with this place anymore. A bunch of us petitioned to have onnirom unbanned years ago and that seemed to piss him off a bit. I doubt he has any contingency plan in case of his absence.

It’s kind of boring now that politics is pretty much all 3dmm has to talk about. I think we all just long for the fun and craziness of the old days, it’s comforting to log in and be reminded of those days

Despite leaving a legacy of embarrassing behavior here, I do like to log in periodically and confirm that this place has not dissolved. I'm glad that even the people I didn't historically get along with are still posting, and sort of miss the ones who don't anymore.

I really thought there'd be a new batch of teens to take over and keep progressing the movies.... but I guess by 2006 it was long passed the time when a 3dmm cd came free with new computers.

I hadn't typed 3dmm.com since 2014 until recently. Followed Jeff Ching's recommendation to watch 34-10. Kinda just hanging around again now. There may not be as many people, but there's not this ugly, volatile vibe anymore.

I'll be keeping my movie 'Magic 2' to show friends/kids in the future. It's kind of different to other movies in that it's got a bunch of voices from my Dad and Uncle in it. It'll always be funny to show people "Look at this stupid animated thing I made with voices of my Dad watching the footy".

Maybe I'll take an internet break at some point, but I don't see myself ever leaving, even if it slows down to less than a post a day I'll still probably keep checking in.

If the forum ever goes down though and a good replacement doesn't come quickly that might be the end for me. I definitely won't be migrating to facebook.

I was gonna say, one option is to make a private FB group, but it assumes people are willing to use that platform in the first place.

There's a '3dmm Thugs' group on fb. 72 members I think? Invite only.
It's barely ever had any activity, but that's the only 3dmm thing on fb I know of.

I posted Dustin's movie 34-10 on it. It's seen by 32, and has 4 reactions: Eric Ryan, Kyle Magocs, Will Slade and Martin Hagrot(Apfigur)

A lot of interaction has just become privately between 3dmmers on Facebook or whatever platform. A few members are working on a game together.

I have a couple projects I want to finish, but when I don’t have anything I’m working on, I’ll probably just go. I’ve never been a huge participant in the off topic part of this community. I’ll probably check back in every now and again just to see if anyone has released anything cool, but I can’t see myself sticking around.

Yo I want to be on teh 3dmm thugs facebutt. I dont wanna come here, like, ever but miss some of you. Actually, come to think of it, some 3dmmers HAVE died, which is wild to think about. I am wildly curious where all of those pre/post 9/11 3dmmers are nowadays.

I wonder how many of the old school cohort are actually autistic as well. I didn't really know what the condition was until the last decade or so. In hindsight, we had our own supply.

Patrykkorna, JT Copper (Not sure about him though, doesn't really seem like he has it, or he at least doesn't have a severe case), Sam. Clinton, Tony Clay

I don't really know any other autistic 3DMM'ers, but I can see why it appeals to the autistic community. The characters look hilarious and it's very easy to understand how to animate.
