I barely remember why I disliked him. I just remember him being kind of a dick who thought he was better than everyone else despite being a laughing stock.

We don’t hate Bown. Bown was made fun of when he joined 3dmm like everybody gets made fun of after joining, he just always took it extra personally (possibly because he was a bit younger than the rest of us, and British?) and always felt some weird sense of entitlement here because of it that made him act hella rude and arrogant to other members.

Eventually his arrogance backfired when people got legitimately pissed off and annoyed with things he’s said and then he doubled down on playing the victim, which didn’t work out (because honestly how many times can you do this) so he left

He thought this should be like a serious community for film discussion and not just some place we fuck around and post lols because he (like a lot of people here in it’s hayday) viewed themselves as Lé Serious Filmé Connoisséur Géntleman

For the record I actually like Bown and find him cool and funny in his own unique way, I would even collaborate with him on an animation or script or whatever if he wanted to, it just doesn’t mean that I’m going to view him as some sort of Chad Filmographer or whatever (I don’t view anybody here like that, even the few actual people who made and worked on Hollywood films)

He’s basically the butt-monkey of the 3DMM fandom.

Maybe it's just me, but I think him looking like a profound incel made the bullying here worse, not that his personality didn't also contribute to it.

I think at this point for certain people, ripping on Bown is simply a force of habit. It was fairly easy to clash with him over whatever and he was never really one to back down from an argument or differing of opinions. I've certainly butted heads with Bown on occasion but he's a good dude in the long run! I've met him IRL a number of times during the odd UK 3dmm meetup and he was even kind enough to let me, Cubert and Scatterbrain crash at his place when we attended Ben Williams movie premiere in London.

I highly doubt anybody here who has interacted with him genuinely hates him or anything that extreme, he's not a bad person. But the continuous jokes about him even now despite him leaving the community years ago I honestly think is just habitual for some people. Plus this place is pretty dead now, maybe joking about Bown is somewhat nostalgic and reminds us of a more active time in the community? I dunno.

Hate is a strong word he's just a midwit with a photoshop face.
I think the real reason he left was because andres did first and without a walking thesaurus to bounce bullshit off he lost his authority figure.
He's very influenced by media and twitter lunatics, i don't even think he really has any of his own opinions so hating him is pointless.

Speaking of Andres, he became a real cunt, nearly overnight. For anyone who's been here long enough, they may remember when he was a humble nobody. In fact, he sort of kissed my ass for a little. And then suddenly he was antagonistic, argumentative, etc. The Manifesto pretty much sealed it.

Yeah, i don't really disagree wigth most of the takes in this thread. Or at least, they all have elements of truth. for myself, Bown represents the quintessential crybully. He was constantly nasty to people, and yet always presented himself as the victim. He was also very patronizing and self-righteous at the same time. I don't truly hate him, I think he's probably an OK guy in real life, I just found his personality very grating.

Also this part too, Bown is just a meme at this point. Bashing bown is just the same as saying "Move to antartcica" or "Get new speakers", its just a 3dmm trope

Andres was nowhere near as bad as Bown in terms of butt-hurt, but he sure did tuck tail and run faster than Bown when it turned out he was wrong about Hillary being the next pres. I suspect he just used it as an excuse to leave, which he planned to do anyway, but it's pretty cowardly to not stick around and take the L like any of us would have if we were the ones who called it wrong.

Bown Town basically captures his personality to a T.

I've met him in real life at the UK meetups a couple of times and he was sound. Can't even remember his online persona. At this point it's just nostalgia and a running in-joke.

It's just dawned on me I've never seen "imping" used outside of this forum. And this forum has had more than it's fair share of impers

You're right, this seems to be a local word to this board. I don't even see a good definition on Urban Dictionary.

I was kind of wondering if it was while typing that, but I figured it was common sense enough to be common usage.
