"Haha, now that's what Mr. Blobby calls a scare!"

Go to movie
Mario's burger and the other burgers have been stolen by Jack Sorrow, the nasty burger burglar steals burgers from every restaurant, and gives them to his gang of bandits planning to steal burgers from all over the world. Can Detective Corny, the famous detective policeman and the cartoon characters solve the mystery, and find the culprit just in time? Watch and find out.

This review has spoilers, so if you intend on watching the series, do so first.

Hi.

So, like I mentioned in my Purpleelastic review, there has been a group of newcomers I have dubbed as "The Unholy Trinity". These three basically showed up to the board around the same time, and each of them has proven to be quite a nuisance, from making very low quality movies, to making an endless wave of requests, to just simply being not on the same wavelength with the rest of the board, and showing no possible signs of improvement. The three in question of course, are Thomas Saunders, PatrykKorna (as well as every single one of his infernal incarnations), and Nikolas Bouras.
Now, I've noticed that Bouras was advertising his proudest work in the Discord server, understandably so, and something scratched the back of my head to say, "Fuck it, I'll look at three seconds of this". What I got was something I did not expect in the slightest. So, let's talk about that. This review will be about all four of the episodes; The Burger Burglar, Blobby Boo!!!, Mario's Birthday, and The Lucky Prize. Mainly because I didn't want to make a review for each individual episode, you get only one, fuck you.

So before I dissect this fascinating creature of a series, I normally talk about the highlights of the movie at the end of the review. Not this time. Instead, I wanted to get the elephant out of the room, and explain up front of what bewitched me to watch this series, and it was one big important factor; Nikolas Bouras, you are a very good voice actor. I find it shocking that, for the most part, your impersonations on some characters, such as Mario, Ren, and most of the cast was so impressive, I had to listen for awhile to figure out if it was the real thing or not. Granted, when you sprinkled in the original voice clips with yours, it set them apart, but it doesn't deter the fact that you are very competent in copying the nuances, dialects, accents, and tones of the characters voices. It is the main reason I kept watching, and the only thing that kept me truly entertained throughout the experience.

Plot(s)/Delivery: When it comes to the plots, there is nothing spectacular here. Each plot had a basic premise, and it played out tediously. When it comes to each one (except mostly The Lucky Prize, we'll get to that), they all play out in this "Kingdom Hearts like", Frankenstein collab setting, where all the cartoon characters in "Cartoonland!™" are friends with each other that hang out and do shit. It's sort of jarring to hear Rocko say "talk to the powerpuff girls". Whatever, I'll play along, it's fine.
The Burger Burglar is about the whole gang trying to figure out who stole Mario's burgers. About 2/3rds of the episode is them going to each house and asking different cartoons if they are the burglar. Like this scene literally plays out the same exact way three times in a row. This would have sucked if I didn't just start imagining it like Nikolas's voice acting demo reel. Hearing him play out these characters was sorta fun in its own way. Anyways, Wallace & Gromit immediately figures it out, goes to the evildoers lair, arrests him, and they all party their asses off (insert Dance* animation for half a minute). One thing that annoyed me a bit was that he introduced this interesting original character called Detective Corny, and he had a very fun voice, and a great buildup. He is then washed into the background in favor of the cops from the Simpsons, and he doesn't say anything else until the end of the episode. Honestly, he is my favorite character from the whole series. I would love to see a whole episode dedicated to him, which makes it all the more disappointing to see him not get utilized.
Blobby Boo!!! is easily the worst one of the series. Nicolas's voice acting variety is minimal in here, and the only one you really hear is the boring narrator drone on in the background. The plot is pretty bad too. Long story short, Blobby sucks at everything until he gets a job as a monster scaring people, the whole town hates him now, and calls the cops on him, and the monsters, when the cops show up Blobby explains he is getting paid to do this, and in response the cops...awards him, and the other monsters with a free meal? No. This episode was a total mess. Next.
Mario's Birthday is not much better as far as plot goes. Mario wakes to hear from the news that the town is throwing a surprise party for Mario, which is quite honestly the best way to make a surprise party without someone noticing. It's okay though, because throughout the episode, Mario is a goddamn retard, as he does not catch on at all. The news announcing your birthday? "Huh that's interesting!" All your friends gathered in a group talking about apparently nothing, but oh go to this restaurant at a specific time? "Oh okay!" Go around town for two fucking movie minutes to see three different notes on the doors of your friends saying the same exact thing (for the record I call bullshit on Homer's note. There is no way he is that eloquent)? "Well I guess I should see what's going on!" And he gets to the restaurant (nice whistling BTW), and guess what, he shits himself in excitement. Whatever, at least the voice acting was really good in this one.
The Lucky Prize takes a different turn and introduces original characters, deviating from the series usual format. It introduces Jordan McSplot winning a prize from a TV show, and recieves an entire person, his new best friend Wellington. It turns out, Wellington is a total unlikable assmunch, as he annoys McSplot, eats his food, and pesters him to watch cartoons (side note, his clothes was left on default during this scene and that bothered the hell out of me. Okay moving on), which drives McSplot to kick him out. Turns out, Wellington is a missing child who has a $5,000 reward for his return to his parents. Hoping at the opportunity, McSplot finds Wellington and takes him to his parents house. Here is where the most confusing moment in the entire series occurs. Out of nowhere, a robot randomly appears, confuses the father, exclaiming that the robot is not his son, closes the door in McSplot's face, which prompts Wellington to ask McSplot to be his new dad, and McSplot fucking agrees... Well, points for creativity no doubt, and a fascinating turn in character development at least...
Another major gripe I had with all the episodes was that, aside from the voices, none of the cartoons had any reason to be there. You could have replaced the characters with default actors, and nothing would have changed about it (though if that was the case, the series would be less enjoyable, solely because as I have said, the impersonations is what kept this interesting). If you had the cartoons do things they would normally do, then this might have fixed the show's crippling repetition. Picture this, Bouras: imagine in The Burger Burglar, that the gang had to sneak into Jack Sorrow's lair, and each of the gang had to utilize their abilities to capture him. Pikachu could use his lightning bolt to take out the power, Homer could cause a distraction by being him for a few seconds, Blossom could use her powers to take out Jack's minions, and when Jack tries to escape, Rainbow Dash could have used her speed to chase him down. If you're going to go with this cartoon character theme, you should go all in about it. There were several missed opportunities like this, and it is a shame you didn't capitalize on it.
4/10: Overall, each episode had a plot that was understandably as simple as an early morning children's cartoon show, but each one was also repetitive, bland, and struggled to retain some of its competency.

Animation: I'll save you the grief here, cut to the chase, and say none of it is any good. All of it was static stiff, and default. Make some custom scenery, add in some fluid motion to the characters, put in some effort man, anything! Just, work on all of it, okay? There, saved you the pain.
1/10: The cars moved okay at least.

Sound/Music: Like I keep mentioning, your voice acting saved this series. Had it not been for that, this would have no entertainment value for me. Even your original characters had a unique, dynamic, voice, and a lively personality. Each character introduced was another highlight of your amazing impersonations. However, when you had all these sounds and music playing over it, the episode quickly sucks the fun out of itself, which happened often. Blobby Boo!!! was the worst offender in this, and was definitely not a good character to show off your skill. In contrast to that episode, Mario's Birthday was easily the best one as far as your acting was concerned. It was clearly presented for the most part, there were several characters to play with, the one scene where Ash burned the cake had very well delivered lines, and the fact that you fucking sang as these characters in sync actually impressed me. you should seriously consider offering your services to the community, and look around to see if people need lines for movies, because you really do a good job at it.
7/10: Watch this series solely to hear the characters he plays. It is a lot of fun.

GOODIES AND TREATS: Now while I had major problems with the series as a whole, there were also plenty of small moments that made it endearing at times.

The one cop pointing a gun at Ren got me to laugh, especially since I didn't catch it the first time, and then realizing that the cop did it only that time.
Mario freaking out over "Jack Sorrow" got a chuckle from me. Also, the name Jack Sorrow.
In The Burger Burglar at the end, where Detective Corny says "And you are going to prison for 20 years...forever!".
Actually, just Detective Corny as a whole is good shit.
The concept of Blobby being a monster is so fitting, and the disturbing scare laughter you portray with him is glorious.
The whole McSplot scene in Mario's Birthday is just so juxtaposing in every single way, that it just makes it oddly amusing to watch.
Squidward's "which nobody can deny" line was delivered so fucking well that I actually loled. It was the best joke in the entire series.
Wellington devouring the chicken was somehow mesmerizing.

Conclusion: Honestly, the series lacks any real quality, but you should see it because watching Bouras play out these characters is well worth it. Nikolas, if you put some time into making a well planned out scene, roughed out a script, and put a bit of thought out time into these episodes, then the series would have been really good. I went into this knowing the content wouldn't be my cup of tea, and I wasn't wrong. I didn't expect to get anything out of this, but you proved me wrong. You have an obvious skill, dare I even say talent, for voice acting. Exploit the hell out of this. Take advantage of that in future projects. Work on trying to make at least half decent looking scenery, and you could be onto something. I seriously urge you to TRY.

Yeah, thanks JT. I know it needs a lot of editing or fixing much better than the ones I made that you said they suck. That's all there is.

Not mention Nikolas Bouras used to hound me with Digimon Mod requests via PMs quite a while back which pissed me off to no end (along with Looney Tunes characters and even other certain characters which downloadable 3D models of them cannot be found online such as secondary Postman Pat characters like Mrs. Goggins and Ted Glenn). He did a great job on voice acting on characters he used in his Cartoonland Episodes, although his voice acting on Bart Simpson (when he made Bart and Homer at the Cinema) doesn't sound much like Bart Simpson's voice which Nancy Cartwright potrayed. I'm surprised you haven't mention anything about CartoonLand shorts including the two of them featuring Simpsons Characters, I laughed so hard at when Bart caused a disturbance at the cinema by singing Jingle Bells, Batman Smells when himself and Homer go to see "In Love with the Dove" at the Cinema instead of having Bart to see "The Itchy and Scratchy Movie" even though he wanted to see it.

Speaking of The Burger Burglar episode, Detective Corny (as from Valentine the Policeman mod I ported sometime ago) and Jack Sorrow would've been a good addition for Augustin Burger franchise with Detective Corny being a famous detective policeman and tries to catch Bo and Jack Sorrow as Bo's Minion, Even Nikolas could've used the Augustin Burger Interior Scenery prop instead of using a Restaurant Scene from Nick3dmm with Augustin Burger drive thru building with custom scenery instead of Nick3dmm City Scene on The Burger Burglar Episode. Mind you, I used to made series of pictures of trademarked characters I like (like the ones from Super Mario) having lunch at Augustin Burger and submitted them onto DeviantArt which as of right now made me felt so cringy (Not other drawings especially from MSPaint or Sketchbook are that great).

Speaking of the bit from Blobby Boo where Mr. Blobby scares Mr. Bean at the Mall, I'm absolutely surprised there isn't even a legitimate crossover footage for Mr. Bean and Mr. Blobby, especially on BBC's Comic Relief in the UK. Even the Mr. Blobby Mod was easy to make (although he doesn't look fat enough compare to what he looks like when being made out of Zack. I could've made him out of another suitable actor like Jerzy of course.)

And one last thing, I respect your opinion on this series.

Toonsville, remember I apologised not to ask you about digimon mods again? I apologise for that.
