That's not in program though. Keyframe tweening is easy enough - but where will it add the frames? You're taking an 8 fps movie or whatever and turning it into a 24/30 fps movie.

You going to go back and animate all those frame for your props and scenes?

Perhaps on a global scale if you could make a movie, and then extrapolate it from 8 fps to 24 fps and speed correct it - maybe.

I just don't think it's a sensible integration.

But Jayrod would know, so see what he says.

Hi there, I guess I am looking forward to see Open3DMM with V3DMM mods in higher 3D resolutions with lighting and shading of course. Do you think that the Open3dmm program will have the next step to have V3Dmm mods to be made in better quality graphics and animation?

every md2 converted mod has each frame stored as its own BMDL.
so IF there's plans to implement frame interpolation with vertex blending, the animation "transitions" might either look weird, or just won't interpolate.
but i also heard jayrod talk about skeletal animation support at one point... so who knows.
i myself would love support for .mm3d files from misfit model 3d...

Update September 20th, 2020:

The project moving forward is now only using the games datafiles, no more hacking into the original games code! This however will set things back a bit, as I now have to write a lot of things myself. This video demos the spawning of actors, which I made to be pretty close to that of the original game.

A good choice! Is there any way to source some of the code work to other 3dmm.com nerds?

Nice to see continued progress on this. Sounds like a big step even if it doesn't look particularly flashy.

I've said before, expanding the resolution is my #1 request. I think that alone will be the biggest step toward bringing 3dmm into the modern age and make using 3dmm for general animating and posting to youtube and whatnot a reasonable option.

Another big request I don't know if I've seen mentioned is expanding the color palette of imported textures, so basically there is no indexed palette but just all the colors like in photo editing software. With that and an expanded resolution we could basically use 3dmm as just a general animating application, without any vanilla 3dmm assets you wouldn't even be able to tell that it's 3dmm.

This would be handy. After my recent dealings with pencil, messing with palettes just to get textures to work is a real pain in the dick.

it looks like I was a little too late to the party to be able to help with finding secret files out of the 3cn's in the 3dmm directory..... I just have a useless folder with extracted items now lol

This looks very promising! I haven't touched 3D Movie Maker in over ten years, but I would definitely pick it up when this gets released.

Oh.

There is, but it doesn't really work too well. 80% of things won't display.

Yes! I am actively working on it and hope to release some code as I continuously refine it. At the same time I'm implementing the text renderer (for tip balloons and word boxes)
