already commented on this in the other thread but it's worth checking out! Old Rivers and I actually talked about it last time we hung out and were saying it reminded us of this sadly overlooked movie in that it feels "outsiderish," like it has its own unique style that could only come from not being part of the 3dmm community. almost nobody blends actual good animation (let alone post-production effects) with default scenes because "the way it's done" is to stop using them entirely once you learn past the very basics. so doing it this way feels stylistically unique while also probably being a lot less effort than a full-blown custom scenery movie would be.

I hope you finish the actual movie! looking forward to it!

Yeah this looks awesome.

Why is this not in the movie showcase??

Part One will be done in a couple of weeks. Mostly just adding music and sound effects, and I'll be providing placeholder voice acting until I can find another actor.

that was really good! there wasn't much of a plot, but that's not what you watch a movie called SPOOK HOUSE MASSACRE for, and the end hinted toward some more interesting plot developments to come anyway.

pretty much everything else was great! you did a good job of creating an ominous tone, not the easiest thing in 3dmm, even when it's "augmented." the pacing felt right - you let things build up to your monster effects, and then used them sparingly, with really impressive results. monster-Ramu in the window is still my favorite, but the zombie girl came out really well too. the voice acting and overall use of sound were solid as well.

I'm definitely looking forward to where this goes in part 2!

(also, just as a side note, I'd recommend releasing each part as its own release thread from now on instead of just editing this one. it draws more attention that way and makes what the comments are talking about less confusing)

It's amazing when you can see someone make default scenery seem fresh. LOVE some of the techniques you used here with the rain, gore, and horror. This is seriously VERY impressive. It feels like vintage 3dmm in the best way. My only nitpick is that the voice acting could be a bit better, but that's REALLY nitpicking. You don't see this kind of effort anymore around here, so this was really a pleasant surprise. Looking forward to part 2.

Thank you Phil and Dustin for your generous reviews. I'll be sure to give the next installments their own separate threads. I knew when I started this thing that if I can't make original scenes then I better go over the top with the atmosphere and execution.

wow this was very cool, felt like a really polished default 3dmm movie, modern and also retro at the same time. kinda like stranger things. like dustin said, great use of sound effects and also the way you lit up segments of the rain for the exterior shots, nice touch. i look forward to seeing a followup!

Hey, this is awesome. Very Evil Dead, which is great in my book. And the monster flying around with her guts hanging out is actually quite creepy looking, a unique achievement with 3dmm I reckon.

Lovely film.

Really nice editing and atmosphere.

I think this is the first time I've really seen effects being put to such use as well.

Great stuff, looking forward to Pt. 2.

Possibly the closest watching a 3dmm film has gotten to being creepy, as well.

Holy shit! This is the most suspenseful, creepy horror atmosphere ever created in 3dmm by far! And most creative use of default scenery ever as well! When I used default scenery, people gave me shit, but when this guy does it!... I'm kidding. Fuckin awesome!

Agreed with Dustin about the voice acting. And note to the director with future movies, Dustin is in my opinion the best voice actor the community has ever had. Just sayin...and I don't think he ever won a 3dmm.com award for it.

That fucking ruled. I loved the way you did the rain, and how it was illuminated by the headlights of the car and so forth. Truly impressive.

Yeah this is terrific. I agree with Compcat and Christo, the natural movement of the monster and the environmental effects were stellar. I'll probably submit a full review later, like Jt did.

Just so you guys know, at some point I'm going to take down the video so I can make some adjustments. I know some people enjoy the cheesy voice acting, but I want to redo my voice acting for Detective Zachary and Dr. Alhazred. I like my cousin's performance as Bradford, so that will be left alone, but my voice acting isn't even good in a cheesy way. Plus, there are some other small things I want to change.

you should replace the gore effects with walkie-talkies

really cool. the effects were so cool, i love how you used the default scenery. i was instantly impressed by the light in the rain.

it almost felt like a Resident Evil 1 cutscene to me, between the PS1-level graphics, the still camera shots, the voice acting, and the supernatural mansion setting.

I wouldn't say take the movie down and re-release it, but maybe you could pull a REDUX and release an extended version down the road. It could give you a lot of potential to release the additional parts, see the response from each episode, and make a super release that is every episode combined and more finely tuned to the feedback.

Right now I'm working on an improved version of Part One. I plan to have Part Two done by the end of July.
