Marcy The Vampire Carpools to the Bank with Susan the Dog & Friends!
Jt Copper's Avatar
Plot Summary:
What's this!? Another Marcy the Vampire movie? Oh well. Back to drinking pool cleaning supplies. This is part 1 of 4, of Marcy the Vampire Season 2.

Over the course of two and a half years, I have continued to make the Marcy the Vampire series. Four new episodes were made between the time of 2016 and 2017, and I am in the process of finishing the last episode. These four new episodes, as well as the upcoming 5th episode, are dubbed as the 2nd season. I have used Marcy as a way of experimenting with new ideas, animation designs, custom movements, and story development. So indulge in the morbid cesspool that is my concoction of a movie series and enjoy yourself I guess, in the four part movie dump of Marcy the Vampire Season two!

In this episode, Marcy goes to the grand bank to fatten his wallet, like a witch feeding chocolate to children. He will face new struggles, new problems, and even new rivals? And Samurai Clinton is there too, I guess.

This episode was completed on February 15, 2016.

Haha that was great!

The fight scene at the beginning featured perhaps the best animation I've seen from you. I liked the way you did the movement on the boomerang top hat. Same with Valentine's tailcoat blowing in the wind. Although I don't know how that scene was supposed to relate to the rest of the movie, but I assume we'll find out what that was about in future episodes (I just started watching these in order).

The humor was a big improvement over what I remember from the previous episodes in the series. While there was still a little too much "LOL Random!!" humor, the jokes overall landed much better in this one. The introduction to Geoffrey was funny - I chuckled at the piano bit. Also the way Susan the dog goes "Woof, Woof!" was funny to me, especially the frantic woofing when the car fell off the cliff. And I think you basically got the right sense of how often it should occur - if the woofing has occurred more frequently, it would have become stale.

I'd say I generally liked the use of physical comedy more than the actual jokes. For instance, the characters slowly driving the old ramshackle car down the street while the other cars pass them (and Geoffrey obnoxiously driving in the left lane the entire time. I dunno if that was intentional, but I laughed). Or him parachuting out of the car. I definitely laughed the most at those sorts of jokes.

You've clearly become better at modding. Character models like Geoffrey and the guy in the opening scene were really well done. Not to mention Uncle Carbunkle, possibly the greatest character design in 3dmm history. Was he inspired by Dan? He seems like a very Dan-esque character. Maybe I just think that because he was introduced with a Rippingtons song. Also, I appreciated Clinton's appearance (did you make that custom bike mod just for this movie? If so, bravo!).

OVERALL excellent effort. Easily the best of the series that I've seen so far, although I now see that this was released two years ago so hopefully the next three are even better.

Can you include the .vmm files for these?

Haha, thank you for the comments man!

I do have the .vmm files, though they might be janky since I fucked my whole system up when I downloaded Nickelodeons pack twice. I'll provide it/them, but that's a cautionary.

Uncle Funkle Carbuncle is a character that goes waaayy back with me and my brother, with early drawings of him via my brother dated back to 2009. I should have them somewhere on my computer. He is actually somewhat of a "multipresent" character, spanning multiple stories and universes that me and him work on, this being a version. A lot of his character development came from a time when I was heavily reading Dan's comics, so possibly that might have leaked in when making his lines.

EDIT. I added the .vmm file in case someone want to disect the animation. Word of warning, it may be corrupted or glitched, because my copy of N3dmm is sort of messed up, so I don't know how it would play on your computer. Feel free to try regardless.

Ok I finally watched this! (Had no issues with the .vmm file by the way.)

Like Old Rivers, I also liked the sight gags better than most of the jokes. I found Marcy to be pretty annoying, and he definitely feels like a character you came up with as a teenager. But I liked the stuff Old Rivers mentioned (plus some other things like Marcy being the only one to get thrown out of the car when they hit the penis).

But hey humor is subjective anyway, but what isn't subjective is animation quality, and this was seriously great in that respect! The big flashy effects in the first scene definitely got my attention - the spinning hat, the guy falling into the sword, etc. But I think what I was most impressed by was the attention to detail, from your much-more-frequent-than-usual-in-3dmm camera angle changes all the way to really minor things like trees going by in the background having enough movement from frame to frame to look realistic. The whole thing just felt really polished. It's great to see someone caring about that kind of thing even with the tiny audiences that 3dmm movies get nowadays.

I also enjoyed Clinton's appearance. And that you had your dad sing Ebony and Ivory! Really curious how you approached him with that request, haha.

I will watch the others soon!

Hahah, my dad threw that Ebony/Ivory bit in himself.

Whenever I ask him to do lines for me, we'd make a night out of it and drink while doing them. At some point we hit a cap and he would start thinking of different responses to each line. So I have a folder of us saying dumb shit and lines that got scrapped.

For this episode, we recorded the lines from finish to start because the first line was the longest one, so by the time we got to that line we had our 5th glass or something around that. He improved that line, I loved it, still do. That's about it.

Don't know who that is, but you'll likely need to make it yourself.
