The Snail (My First Toon Boom Animation)

so some of you guys may know already that I've recently dedicated myself to getting back into animation. i've spent a ton of money already on getting an amazingly powerful new computer to support the software I have been recently experimenting with, Toon Boom Harmony. what i've made here is obviously about as high quality as expired yoghurt in comparison to what the animation industry has created with this software. rick and morty for example, is created on this software.

anyway i've had a 30 day trial which ends tonight, as well as a few other lil unfinished test animations and a lip sync character test for the new mike and sam series i'm developing, this here is the only "complete" animation I have done. my friend requested i create something involving a snail and this is the result.

as always, all comments and feedback are much appreciated!

I've been watching you make and post stuff on facebook for a week or two so I've seen some of your other stuff. I think it's good for a beginning and you're on the right path. I like seeing somebody learning to animate because it reminds me how fun it can be, and when I made flash animations.

I think you could benefit from having some degree of style or aesthetic put into your work, because right now it looks fairly generic. Like it kind of looks like a flash animation from 2002, if you know what I mean. (This is probably more relevant to your facebook posted stuff than this animation I guess.)

Although there's a right time for everything, maybe you're not there yet, and you're still just having fun. I certainly have no room to critisize anybody, I've been saying I would start animating something for the past 3+ years and never do, even though I'm already paying for all the software and everything. I guess this is a sign that I need to actually start doing it.

thanks man! and yeah i definitely understand what you mean regarding the generic style, i've only had 30 days with the program before the trial runs which i mostly used to just get to know as much of the program as i can, get a basic idea of how it works and what the process of drawing and animating in it is like.

obviously what i've been posted is all just the results of what i've learned so far, bearing in mind i've not really used any other animation software but 3dmm, so this is all new to me. these few animations were all made in a day or so, once i've bought the software i will be able to put more time and effort into them and create better quality content.

what software do you have and not use? i'm assuming flash?

Cool little cartoon. Nice animation on the mouth talking. Keep it up. I say as long as you're having fun keep on doing it.
