The Phobos Anomaly -
Red Venom's Avatar
Plot Summary:
A Squad of Marines is sent in to investigate a distress Signal from the UAC's Phobos facility -

I've decided to release this finally.. for pure inspiration. Here is the mostly finished Phobos Anomaly project I've been working on.. As it stands it more or less an intro to the series, future episodes will take place when 3dmm2 finally arrives.. With current restraints finding time for this has been pretty rough to say the least... So here is the version which can be released this lifetime

A prequel to the events of "DooM' by Id Software -

Its been a blast 3dmm. A huge shoutout to Dustin Guest, Jp, Redwampa and Goro for scenes models & inspiration.

Requirements
3D Movie Maker
Frankie's 3dmm Expansion Pack 1

That was killer. The dark atmosphere worked very well. The way the scenes just sort of went by in quick succession, sometimes with little connectivity, actually suited the style. I enjoyed the fact that the whole movie was sort of like... one 20 minute scene. Animation was good. There were times when the scenery seemed crude, but that actually still fit in, given how "raw" most of the action is. The visuals often seemed to be reminiscent of a graphic novel, particularly the shots with characters in silhouette, which were great. The movie's sound mixing was really good. Like among the best of any 3D movie I've scene (i don't know how much of that was just the Doom soundtrack, but it seemed like there was a lot more to it). The way the music in the background blended with the dialogue and action sound effects was very well done, and helped give the movie a unique atmosphere.

I hope we get to see the second one in the near future, the opportunities for fun, badass, nightmare animation for Deimos are plentiful.
however, you would benefit from learning the distinction between there/their/they're

Good job!

Yes, Rivers is right on point. Your animation has always been top-notch, and you have a great eye for composition. I am less in love with the Doom characters, textures, and general feel than most of the people here, but that's also what helps separate this from other 3dmm works. It kind of creates its own world in look and sound. Good work!

I'm missing some of the fonts and I'm not sure if I set the framerate right. Let me know if there's any adjustments that need made and I'll make a second pass.

What Goro said. Some stunning composition and great atmosphere. I wasn't dying about the constant static and computer cutaways if just because it doesn't look so hot at 6 frames per second, but it really adds to the tone. I couldn't tell when the backdrops were 3D models or just screenshots, the aesthetic is that on-point.

Holy shit that was awesome. Better than Derelict in my opinion. Doom is my favorite game and this movie tapped the atmosphere perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was how you used the strogg grunt models for the marines. It would have made more sense to use them as zombies while using the Doomguy models for the marines. Also, the constant screen flickering was rather annoying. Aside from that, this is one of the best 3DMM movies!

I was surprised to see this released as it is. Good stuff here, though. I do have to mention that a few of the more “traditional” shots in here were made by a couple of other 3dmmers. I’ll follow this up with a more substantive post soon, and I’ll try to identify who did what.

Update:

These are quick shots, and mostly inconsequential here, but they were skillfully made by buddies of mine as favors a long, long time ago.

I'd like to apologize for that.. I forgot to add those in the credits and so admit I'm wrong for not contacting you beforehand ☹️Honestly I thought you may have been to busy to finish anything 3dmm related for the "project" And not seeing any new emails had me sort of hopeless.. I remember throwing them in as a momento to everything doom. I know redwampa made those some time ago.. And about the release.. I remember thinking this is never going to get released, with everything going on I figured it's now or never.. I seriously feel bad though...

It’s all good, don’t change anything or take it down, I just wanted to make a note of it.

I may follow your lead soon and post the work I did on Doom 3, as well as the script we wrote. It’s not fair that I’ve held onto it all for so long. There’s enough content that’s been made that if anyone ever wanted to pick it up and take a crack at working on it, he’ll have plenty to go on.

That's awesome dude, and thanks. I'm sure the whole community would love to see anything from you again. I would hope to see it finished but would completely understand nowadays.. To begin with when I began years ago I was hoping this movie would inspire you to finish your Doom 🙂 Much respect bro, hope all is well.

Wow- I forgot I made that scene. Good memory!

Don't take anything down, Red Venom. I hope to follow JP's lead and do the same with Ninja Gaiden 2

awesome stuff! The film went a bit slow for me, but the sets, and shots were badass. Especially the action scenes.
