Consolidation

Things have been slowing down a lot lately, we should consolidate the board so that all the activity is concentrated in as few spots as possible. We should have only two subforums: 3dmm and Off-topic. We should close down the Cosmic Cafe. As fun as it was, I think this community is too small to be so exclusionary, especially at this point. And when old members check back in they won't see most of the activity so they'll be a lot less likely to join back in.

That's what I would do if I were running things.

Definitely agree. We're past divisive bullshit, let's just enjoy having online friends.

Idk, I think even the people who disagree and are bothered by that stuff still would like to participate in the discussion. I think people were more bothered by the fact that they knew those things were being expressed here and going unchallenged. I'm just speculating though, I was never really involved in that whole drama.

i think we can live with just off topic and the cosmic cafe. and i guess like 1 forum for 3dmm stuff. the rest are kind of pointless. although idk it just wouldnt be 3dmm without a testing forum...

yea, go ahead and close cosmic cafe. we'll start a separate ubb forum and then you'll have to click a separate link in your bookmarks to even read it. we'll call it "Compcat's Inconvenient Cafe".

real talk tho, melt down Art Gallery into Off-Topic and either board up and archive Robot House or finally pass it off to Christo and Jesterfoot. that's really all that needs to be done.

I basically agree with this.

Get rid of the art forum, merge it into Off Topic, it'll force people to post art in Off Topic and it might actually generate discussion again.

that's actually a good point, why not just remove off topic? cosmic cafe is essentially the board's off topic chat, and testing forum is good for people who want to post random garbage or who are benned from the covcafe

Merging art gallery off topic and robot house is a good idea

I really think we should rebrand as a general 3D animation community. 3dmm = 3d movie making

If we want to survive as a community we have to grow and get new people to join. There's only so many people that are actually going to be interested in Microsoft's 3DMM enough to join, and they will probably be autistic. If we focus on 3D animation in general we can attract new people with an already existing community.

Great!

Let's have you begin by backing-up your words with actions by making your precious forum public.

Go on, Big Man.

Put your money/reputation where your words are. Go on.

He probably just pressed the costume changer a bunch of times and didn't recognize them in a sweet karate trousers/denim jacket combo.

I don't see the point in changing anything. What's it supposed to achieve? It's the same 15 dudes that post here always... This whole discussion is moot because Space Goat's obv not interested in making anymore changes to the site or even letting us know he's still alive except that the 'lights' remain on.
