Trump just mentioned (joked??) about bringing the woman whom Bill Clinton had an affair with to the debate and have her sit in the front row.

This thread may be full of petty bickering and bullshit but not even 3dmm.com can match Trump's level of loathsomeness.

yeah i mean is it any coincidence that lohr, boris and i are the three biggest stoners on the board*? i doubt it. like DFW said somewhere it doesn't seem like the most harmful but it is. it destroys slowly but completely, was the general gist of it. my attempts to quit are generally getting better and the time between them is shorter, so hopefully i can continue in this vein.

*sorry HJ but you don't really wanna be included in this do you

Tonight I've been reading an old Vanity Fair article about Trump from 1990...this stood out.

Donald Trump appears to take aspects of his German background seriously. John Walter works for the Trump Organization, and when he visits Donald in his office, Ivana told a friend, he clicks his heels and says, “Heil Hitler,” possibly as a family joke.
Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed.

This is really old, like this was one of the first pieces attacking Trump when he just started running for president.

i dunno about you guys, but there's nothing i find more offensive about a man who makes casual jokes about a failed political regime from the middle of the 20th century

here's a vice article that kinda-sorta summarizes a lot of what i think the past few pages of this thread has been about, re: trump vs clinton charities. i didn't check all the fucking different links before you fucking ask, i don't give that much of a shit.

yeah agreed. also this is like the fourth or fifth place now where I've seen the claim that little or none at all of the Trump Foundation's money came from Trump. Chris I was just assuming you knew what you were talking about saying he exclusively donated to it himself and used it as a tax dodge but...is that actually even remotely true? where are you getting that? if the foundation IS doing all this with other people's money, then the last possible point of comparison against the Clinton Foundation besides "it's smaller" falls apart

also I'm just thrilled to learn the Trump Foundation donated $100,000 to Citizens United! nothing excites me more than the prospect of a president who has used his "charitable contributions" to successfully try and increase the influence of corporate interests on government policy! Trump, a fresh new independent voice from outside the system!

if the media had focused on that one issue with laser-eye precision and conformity and ignored all of the "wow, just wow" stuff, he'd be finished. but as i said before, trump's brilliance (or perhaps his campaign's brilliance in general) is in taking advantage of the decentralized nature of the mainstream media and using selfish clickbait journalists looking for a "hot new angle" to his advantage

and, y'know.... offering people some feasible reforms that they actually want. there's that, too.

How bout 2000? More of a general question cause I've always been interested in what the general tone was around the election in 2000. Was it the general view that it could go either way?

So are you saying it's obvious Trump is going to win or are you saying that this guy is a hack?

If he's gotten every election since 1984 correct, does that mean he got 1980 wrong, and thought that Reagan would lose?

maybe he just didn't make a prediction that year.

edit: yeah
