also any blues guys writing "woke up this morning" as the first lyric in the 21st century

i get that the blues is a very traditional form of music. but it really annoys me how little progression and creativity it has seen since the early 1970s with the end of the blues-rock craze, at least among its more famous artists. SRV was great in the 1980s of course, but he was crazy talented and enthusiastic.

eh i guess its because the blues has gone on to influence everything outside of its own genre, while anything labeled "blues" has to be ultra-traditional now that we have a million genre labels, so if you do anything slightly creative beyond the 12-bar-blues scheme, you automatically are given a new genre label. which leaves the "blues" genre as the leftover sticklers to the traditional ways. yeah i guess that's it. so nevermind, whatever
