New game review video: The Unholy War (PS1)

I think I've said this for like the past three videos now but I'm not totally happy with how this one has turned out and I think I really mean it this time. This is a game that's very close to my heart and I think I ended up spending far too much time talking about how great I think it is and not enough time being funny. I still got a fair few gags in there but it definitely feels heavier on the review side of things and, contrary to the name of the series, I don't really make these videos for the sake of reviewing the games. I'm far more concerned about being entertaining as I do it and I think I may have missed the mark on that this time round. Correct me if I'm wrong though

As always, I really want to hear your feedback so go nuts.

At first I was like, "17 minutes? Eeeehhnnn" but before I knew it I was 11 minutes in and not bored or anything.

You got a good pace, good editing, good humour - and I really love that you actually GO INTO THE DETAILS of the game. So many reviews are just some guy saying things like "It's pretty nice feels good mate yeah handling is effective for my K939 mouse lol look at this fucker LOWLWOW" but no, you actually REVIEW THE GAME.

Get a better mic/recording setup though.

As always, a great review.
Also, did you get the disco music from Timesplitters Future Perfect? It sounds exactly the same

Yeah man. It's "Disco A GoGo" from Future Perfect.

Thanks Ash. Mic isn't too bad as far as I know but the room I recorded the lines in was terrible. It was the first time I recorded there and I was really disappointed with how it sounded, but I knew I was gonna be there for the next ten weeks so I had to just get on with it (otherwise I'd have had to wait like two months to get the lines done). I remember talking to Dan on Facebook about how the commentary was totally unusable and the next video wouldn't be out for ages but I went back to listen to them a couple of weeks later and figured it was just about good enough.

Yeah it wasn't terrible but cleaner audio will just really round out the production.

the audio seemed fine to me, but my speakers aren't very good. not sure what I can do about that problem

and yeah I mean I think it's pretty much impossible to be as funny nostalgically fawning over something as mocking something, but this still had enough funny moments that it kept me interested even though I've never even heard of this game. good stuff, keep 'em coming!

You should do a review of 3dmm. You'd be the first, and who better than someone from the community?

I've thought about it. I've held off for the time being because I feel like I wouldn't be able to talk about 3dmm without mentioning all the work we've done as a community, and I'm not sure I want my audience to be able to link me back to a bunch of 5 year old posts I've made about masturbation and how I wipe when I take a shit.

Thanks Phil

Interesting review and game. I never heard of this game before. Not every review has to be funny.

This game is a lot like Custom Robo, one of my childhood games.
The review was great as well. The only thing I'd have to say is cut down a little on the time. Like Ash said, 17 minutes might turn down some viewers.
