One of the best shorts of the year!

This is amazing, an absolute masterpiece. First off, the visuals. The whole grey-scale theme was so simple and the over focus of darkness was simple but totally powerful, and the way how the light hits the points increases the tone with what little light the movie offers and at the same time makes it feel so bright. Which leads me to the lighting. Dear god the lighting. Its some of the greatest I've seen in a 3DMM movie. The atmosphere of the piece has so much to take in and I was in complete focus the whole time, the tone of a man watching meteors hit the earth adds to some unknown beauty of the movie, and it works. The music of course, complements the film while combining with the sounds just ties the whole thing together. What else is there to say, its beautiful. I loved the shit out of it man, amazing work.

man that was fantastic, visually great and worked well with the interstellar music. my only criticism is the distance shots with the meteors coming down, your use of the superdings rain thing. it didn't really work too well IMO and kinda distracted me from the rest of the stuff going on. apart from that though this was a damn fine animated short and visual experiment with the solid colours lighting effects, well done!

Considering 3dmm doesn't have any lighting, this is fucking gorgeous use of lighting! Really atmospheric piece, fucking loved it. Nice work man. Care to elaborate on where this came from, what it means to you etc?

The idea was mostly improvised. I sat down with an idea of the visuals and then just let it flow as I went, turns out I like meteors! I wanted to make something as visually visceral as I could, I suppose to prove to myself that 3DMM is able to portray or tell a serious story visually, with no dialogue.

Whoah.

That was friggin' beautiful. The art direction was fantastic, and the use of solid colours brought it to life. The grey-scale theme of the movie really added to the whole visual and audio experience, and now I'm interested to see what this would look like with colour. However, I do agree with Ben Rice that the superdings 2 rain effect was pretty distracting also because of how mesmerizing it looked to me.

Absolute art! Wow!

This is the first movie I've ever rated 100, and I don't know how it didn't get onto my radar until now.

I have a feeling that you were playing around with solid color shapes one day, and the story just naturally flowed from there. Regardless, a perfect blend of music, story, subtlety, and cinematography. It's not for everyone, but this definitely hit the mark for me. It offered something that I've never seen done on 3dmm before, and it really trusts that the viewer's attention will be held through periods of very little visual stimulation.

I loved every second of this. It didn't give the Rebirth of 3dmm "WOW;" it took a different visual approach and I commend the director for it.


There's really not enough there to go on further. What is there is really, really, really good. We're not exactly sure what goes on (I have my own interpretation), and the animation really doesn't do anything remarkable. This piece relies completely on mood, and it hits that out of the ballpark.

Awesome feedback, I'm so glad the lighting made an impact. It is something that I feel gives 3DMM a sense of realism. I've tried to incorporate the lighting style in each film I've done since TEN however this one was a full experimentation of that style.
