I did another review - London Racer, PS1

I'm not entirely happy with this one. I think I overdo the "LOL, here's a huge portion of text that's only on screen for half a second" and I didn't realise how much I seem to be laughing mid-sentence in the bit where I talk about the opening cutscene. I do it like 5 times in about a minute and a half.

Also, it could probably do with more music in the background. I like to mostly use the game soundtrack in these reviews and this game had pretty shit music (and all the tracks are only 40 seconds long), so that rule didn't really work in this case.

The music the plays during the montage at the end might be familiar to you guys. I redid it myself in FL Studio but it's based on the music that Sandford used in Ross Marlow Stabs Himself With A Rapier. No idea where he got it from though.

Still great but I'm gonna say right off the bat I preferred you doing mixed bag games, feels like there's only so much you can say about anything this basic and crappy. Great production though and funny as ever!

Yeah, editing it was certainly a pain in the arse for that reason. Every single clip essentially looks like all the others so it took forever to trawl through and find examples of specific things (like, say, a shot of me getting arrested).

Quilt doesn't do reviews per se, but he made those Classics Of Game videos.

I do have a huge list but I'm always open to suggestions. It might be like 20 episodes before I get all my own ideas done though, so yeah.

My favourite parts:
"Your coming with us. (ding ding ding Ding!)
"Makin' my downtown, feelin' free, driving through trees FUCK YOU. what the fuck is-auahhfhs"

Also, the montage sounds suspiciously like ROTT's Fish polka music. Is it stock royalty music?

Not your best, but I like the ending. Some PS1 games are weird. They're like, mushy and lackluster. I find some make me feel a bit sad. I think it's because I imagine a lonely dad who drinks too much goes and buys this, plays it a bit by himself, then leaves it in a box to be forgotten, while he continues his lonely life.

It's not quite the same as Fish Polka but I can see what you mean.

General feedback, will go into more detail later:

I dunno why I've never commented in threads about your reviews before, because I've seen them all and I've loved them.

You always tread a really nice balance of the kind of sarcasm and cynicism you get from Yatzhee, the funny on-screen visuals and overzealous editing of something like Jontron but you do it with your own laid-back style which is refreshing compared to the popular TALKREALLYFASTANDCOMPLAINANDSHOUTLOTS you get with videogame reviews.

Don't worry about the lack of music in this one, it didn't really stick out too much to me, it fits the dry tone. I see why you're worried about overdoing the whole "huge wall of text for a half second" thing, but its not like you're doing it every minute. If anything, the thing that sticks out to me more is when you display text as you're saying it to emphasise it. Sometimes this does accentuate a joke, but sometimes it feels like you might be doing it out of fear of the audio not being funny enough by itself.

Anyway this is only your third review and you've already got a really good grasp on your tone so just keep doing what you're doing, because you've already showed a consistent progression from your first one. Just please keep making more, they're awesome.

This post is already big enough as it is, grab me on FB if you wanna talk more about this

Yeah, this totally makes sense. I guess something like "I'm at a TOTAL LOSS for words. Right? No? Okay" is an example here. Like people don't really need subtitles of me saying "Right? No? Okay". If the joke is that I made a terrible pun and I'm now backtracking on it, it doesn't make much sense that I've added any kind of post-production onto my regret. If a person was embarrassed about a rubbish pun, they wouldn't want to accent the fact that they were embarrassed by it. So yeah, I totally follow you.
