10 Year Prediction Thread

ITT we make predictions for what the world will be like 10 years from now

then in 10 years we'll come back to this thread and see if we were right

(feel free to also make 5 year predictions, 20 year predictions, etc.)

Virtual reality will take over everything. Technology advances to fulfill the idea of complete "submersion."

3d space will take over the same way that the internet did.

i just bought Komplete 9 and the only way they sell it is on 12 DVDs. it took me hours to install and reminded me of installing Monkey Island from the like 9 floppies in 1993 or so.

I predict we'll have way less resources and we'll have lots of conflicts between different countries and everyone who posts here is dead except a few people.

In 10 years we look back and go "wow.. technology really kinda stopped. We were spoiled by the 90s and 2000s when everything would change every 10 years.

I am still typing on a keyboard and it's 2024. THAT'S JUST DUMB"

There will be a few new toys, TV will finally have moved to a la-carte channels, and clean water will continue to be a scare resource (though desalination plants will be embraced by most coastal communities, they won't have the capacity to meet demand for another 15 years).

America will have its second black president and a gay vice president.

Household 3d printers (like a new Apple product made for the creation of simple objects and 3d 'pictures') will be the hot, expensive Christmas item. They won't reach saturation for another 2 or 3 years, like the iPhone or iPad. It'll probably have a stupid name like iBlink. The mini version, 2 years later, is named the iOta.

Dental visits will still suck.

A remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark will be received with a so-so response. Harrison Ford will play the president of the university, or a librarian that shooshes Indy during an action scene that just finished in a library.

Stan Lee will die. Knowing the end was nigh, he records himself 'cameoing' as a minister for his own funeral, and this video is played to laughter and applause during the following year's Academy Awards show.

The biggest change will involve automatic driving cars (googlemobiles). The concept finally enters as an expected luxury for all new models (it's a 'mode' you can activate), and, as this becomes more and more commonplace, traffic jams and commuting time fall dramatically.

These things ^ are all correct, and it hasn't even been 10 years

Not quite correct yet but Tesla cars can auto-drive, so pretty much yes.

They will probably have invented a console dedicated to oculus rift, sony would officially cancel the playstation 5, myamoto would probably get cancer, and half life 3 woud be produced, but would turn out as a really bad, generic shooter.

Weed will be legal throughout the unites states along with many new weed-like drugs.

Unemployment will rise dramatically as many customer service jobs will be automated, and simple office jobs can be done with AI software. Government becomes more socialist as a result.

Word breaks out that there is a company building cars on a new form of clean energy but fades from the news after a series of assassinations. 10 month later gas companies disclose a patent to synthetic gasoline.

Automatic cars, 3d printers as common desktop items, 3d printing pens are common, DIY culture is far more far spread, 3d printed organs extends life expectancy substantially, as was said further automation leading to rise in unemployment and more socialist government, legalised weed and prostitution, Alternate energy and fuel sources, fall of US as super power, rise of China then India, Cthulu rises.
