No More Newbies.

Cut them off for at least a month...It's destroying the community...a newbie every week is fine, but every day/4 every day is insane...You should do a waiting list or something...

There is a waiting, list. I only activate every 1 out of 7 accounts anyway. Most of the time they put numbers in their name, or it's not really a name, or they play stupid games with the caps lock button. Those are the accounts that get automatically deleted, I don't even look at them. Then, if it's a human-style name, I look at their details. Sometimes I won't let them in if they didn't bother to fill anything out. Sometimes I do, depends upon my mood, and sometimes I don't do anything and I keep them on the waiting list until I have time to look at them again.

Like this newest guy "bARbaRIaN133". It's almost like some sort a joke. Who on earth would want a screen name that looks like that? I don't even want it on my board. You see where I'm coming from? Accounts like that don't even stand a chance.

What about the people who signed up in October and November and have yet to make a single post?

Since when did you have to post in order to be a member?

I delete inactive accounts, meaning accounts where the user has never logged into for so and so days. All the accounts that have 0 posts and are over 4 months old are users who still visit the board occasionally. OR are important members, like OZ (who has an inactive account) and Greg Niecestro (who is a friend of mine).

I honestly don't understand your obsession with inactive users. They aren't getting in your way, and they're taking up no more than a couple bytes of memory. It's not a problem.

it's great to see you are thinnening(?) down on nebies...Youshould put a warning page teling them they may be suject to lots of verbal abuse..It will stop people making retarded threads and will stop soft newbies signing up...Anyway, the only reason why the community is so tough is becuase everone knows it could tumble all the way down hill any second...

No, it's tough because people figure that if they can't succeed in being funny, they might as well look all hot-snot. We need more mellow people around here, methinks. I honestly don't know how I managed to, for the most part, stay out of the wrath of most when I first arrived, but hey.... I did

But anywho, there's really nothing we can do about the newbie situation. You can't block them all out, that's just wrong. I think that the way Goat handles it is best... if they show a shread of intelligence in their username/profile, then they are considered

And I'd rather that people who just stay and read do just that, rather than making pointless posts once in a while to get their postcount up.

if you don't act retarded and/or make stupid comments, then you should be okay...

the problem is, people like to make retarded and stupid comments and try to be funny.
