it kind of annoys me too but probably not as much as chris lohr. basically it communicates nothing and the grammar is poor. it sounds like something a valley girl would say

thing that annoys me about me:

every time i post a long post, i realize that i wrote "just" too many times. i regularly ctrl-F "just" and delete/re-write them. i just did it for that last post (originally it had 3 justs, brought it down to 2). i don't know why i write "just" so much

yeah i write "just" alot too, and it bothers me. i usually use it in humorous situations, like "he just sweeps all the tax returns off the table and lights them on fire with a zippo" but i think it's sort of a lazy way to communicate something. i use "like" and "sort of" or "kinda" and "alot" too but those don't really bother me as much because they're just part of my idiosyncratic speech pattern

Yeah I find myself doing it all the time too, then when I look back every second sentence has the word 'just' in it. I wonder if there's a reason that word is so prominent in our dialects

along the same lines - "because [noun]." like "because reasons" or "because science."

I say "basically" too much when I'm explaining things and annoy myself. I don't think I do it when I'm typing though.

YES, that is another main one that annoys me. and if we were to go more toward all reddit annoyances, all the "for science!" shit

i feel kinda bad pointing out stuff like "so", "because ___", "that happened" and "is a thing" because some people think i'll be judging you every time you use these phrases. that's not how it is, "so" can be used fine, "that happened" can be used fine. its when these are used to the point of meme status, with people using them rather than just writing in english how they naturally would, that it gets annoying

it annoys me that in american english, we put punctuation inside the quotation marks, even if it is not what the speaker said. for example,
Quote:
Do you think it is dumb that Billy said, "I wanna be lean and mean?"

I refuse to write this way, its terrible

got another one, when I bump or accidentally walk into someone on the street, say 'sorry' automatically and they fucking sigh to themselves or look annoyed.

haha geez, I thought you were gonna say "...and they say sorry too even though it was me who bumped into them." I don't think I've EVER had anyone do this. English people are dicks.
