site slow

this is a thread to talk about how insanely slow this site has sporadically been lately

Sometimes when the site takes forever to load a page no other websites will load for me until like 40 seconds later when the page finally does. I dunno if it's my Firefox or what but it's getting super annoying

are you on a shared connection that others could be overloading? if you connect direct to your modem when its happening and are getting lots of dropped packets pinging google/dns through command prompt then you should call your ISP cause that sucks (ISP in my area was packing too many people onto the same line so we'd get dropouts like that, its why i switched ISPs)

but 3dmm.com has def been having its own trouble lately

I'm interested in switching to a VPS, which would probably help with this problem. However, they are generally about twice as expensive as the shared hosting I'm using now, and I also recently renewed my current plan until the end of this year. Hopefully these problems will pass soon, otherwise I guess my only option is to try and get my current host to upgrade me to one of their VPS plans so I don't lose the money I've already paid for this year. I'm not sure they are even willing to do that though.

yeah its really just the last week for me, i doubt any host would leave it at this level for an extended amount of time anyway

I think this happens but I'm using it over wi-fi, not directly plugged in. It only seems to affect the web browser, not torrents etc, and it tends to do it on like the second or third page I click on when I begin to visit here, then be fine after that. And it definitely doesn't happen on any other website.

this is actually true for me too. at first i thought it sounded ridiculous, but all week long i have been paying attention to the load times when i queue up all forums in tabs, and TTF often loads way slower than the rest (even if its the first or 2nd queued)

Usually the Bombing thread takes so long I open it in another tab so I can check out other places on the site while waiting for that beast of a thread to load up.
