I'm still improving. Now I'm working on a turning head for my animation. This is better than some Michael Ronto bullshit.

I like the characters a lot, they seem like they'd be fun to animate too. the boat and scenery is lacking a bit, the boat especially.

I actually really like the fact the boat/flag etc are basic line drawings. Gives more focus to the characters and makes them stand out.

legitimately impressed that there isn't a single dick or anything in this! second one is a massive improvement, although the boat still looks a little flat. george washington guy especially is a bunch better though

Thanks. It's for a drawing job I'm trying to get, a middle schooler's social studies app for ipads. If I get it I'll draw George Washington stuff, ancient Egypt stuff. I'll sneak a penis into one of the drawings.

you might want to make the picture a daytime one, like the original sketch suggests for the reasons bjorn mentioned

also the fat guy on the right, his face is a tad underdeveloped. you might also wnat to make him a little skinnier, like in the first sketch. i think middle schools are sensitive about fat jokes cos they think it will lower kids self esteem or something

good job though, the re-sketch is much more evocative

nice picture. you definitely need to rework the colors though. (note-- i know nothing about painting/colors/etc) the sky, sea, and shirts all blend together way too much. i also think the sea could use some sea foam or something since as it is it almost looks like its cutting into the boat with its background color being same as foreground.
i guess you changed it to night to be historically accurate? check the original picture and its colorized versions, it looks like they used tons of sea foam and a lit-up area of the sky to make everything stand out

if you just changed the shirt color of the far-right guy and lit up sky behind GW (hes the hero anyway) itd probably be enough

Spent a lot of time on the colors. Didn't feel like doing anything else. Man colors were exhausting. Before I underestimated how extremely important colors are.
