Plot Summary:
Tuum ánima mea est.

Are you ready to see the true dark side of me?

This movie was a project was intended to be scrapped, but when a couple of friends of mine enjoyed the plot, they convinced me to go with it. And holy crap, was I glad I stuck to it. This movie was the most hardest I have ever worked on for a solo project, and as of now using it as a staple for a new era for my future projects. I hope you will all feel the same, rate and enjoy!

Created for the the Halloween Film Festival.

Also, my theater class is gonna watch this tomorrow, so play nice guys.

It's really cool!

I mean, it's basically one genre convention after another, but as an entry for a halloween festival, that's kind of the idea. But it's got loads of style and atmosphere, and good pacing. Nice work!

That was surprisingly good! You've improved a hell of a lot. The atmosphere throughout was great, you really got the eerie-ness down to a t. The spider scene was great, and well animated too. Good job!

that was really good. the sound was very well used especially the guitar music. the POV reveal was cool and all the stuff with the hall lighting was well done

wow JT, i am impressed!

the hallway lights thing was amazing, and the use of sound to create the creepy atmosphere was done really great

great animation too, definitely the best thing you have done and probably one my favorite projects done on 3dmm in recent times

I like it. I liked scene layouts of the first 4 or so scenes. Created good pace. I think you should've intentionally put yourself in scary situations to give yourself inspiration, so you had more subtle atmosphere creating things to put in the movie. Like if you remember, "oh that one time I was scared in the dark, wanting to make myself as small as possible, which made the room seem like it was engulfing me", that'd be good. Nice music selection. Nice job overall.

Yeah I agree with what everyone else has said so far, this was good! How on earth did you do that lighting effect?! That was awesome! And yeah, overall it was nicely atmospheric and had some very nice scenery shots, like when we first see the building from the outside. And I thought the way the demon communicated with the main character and/or viewer was really inventive and worked well.

A few critiques - first of all, don't use 3D words for anything other than basically single words. They're too hard to read, use text boxes instead. I also think it would have been nice if the interiors of the building had been a little more varied than "endless stone passages." The room with the spider was nice, for example, but if you wanted to use this kind of landscape you probably should have set it in a cave or something, it didn't seem like a building at all.

Also this is just personal opinion, but I think it would have been better either with more story, or less. You give us all this information at the beginning about the hero, but none of that ends up mattering and we never get any sort of idea of what's really going on. I would have recommended just starting it with him arriving at the building, keeping the whole plot very minimal, and letting the viewer fill things in for himself, like you did with regard to the "demon." Or else I would have padded things out more plotwise. As is it sort of feels like there's a vague semblance of a plot that's later just cast aside. This certainly wasn't a big deal though.

A very good effort on the whole! How did your class like it, besides Gustave's grin?

The lighting effect down the hall was a mod by Travis Wells btw! And I should add, it is hard to use - having that turn upside down etc for some of those scenes would have been a pain in the ass to animate.

Oh, they loved the crap out this film.

Granted, there was a little part in my stomach that sinked every time they laughed at gustave, rather then paying attention to some of the dialouge, but I guess I had that coming considering I used "Gustave Fuckface Mcgrin" as a main horror character. I got a couple of jumpscares though, the spider, broken glass, kalseru's souless eyes, and every time the screen staticed were a couple examples. So in turn they loved it, some of them wanted more of it, some of them wanted to try making one themselves.

haha kudos to you for remembering the surname i gave him in the chair

yeah i saw this a few days ago. it was pretty impressive and atmospheric, the latter being something that's difficult to achieve in 3dmm and you did a very nice job with that. if this was something i was submitting as college work i would have picked a less amusing looking 3dmm character to use as the main character, but what are ya gonna do? nice work man, well done.

haha yeah, it's always weird when you show 3dmm to non-3dmmers and they immediately point out all the ridiculous aspects of 3dmm that we've gotten so used to we don't even notice, like the ridiculous faces, lips never moving when talking, choppy animation, etc

Before the movie started, I explained to my classmates how "ancient" the program was, the lips not moving, the low color, and etc. and I even had a picture that showed the 3dmm workbench and I explained how I did it. That covered the blow a bit, but it still could not prevent people laughing at dat face.
