The Chair
Ben Rice's Avatar
Plot Summary:
Things start to get 'chairy' as Dr. Willy and his fellow supervillains set in motion a series of events that will lead to the complete annihilation of planet Earth. Only the greatest heroes in 3dmm can stop it in a race against time.

So here it is at long last, after over a year of production the long anticipated 'Chair Chain Movie' has finally arrived!

I think I speak on behalf of everyone involved with this that this is THE 3dmm movie of 2013 and a must watch for everybody.

Scatterbrain and I had been piecing together some stuff for a 'red carpet' premiere movie to celebrate this films release, however the project unfortunately was forced to be swept aside to prevent a longer wait for this films actual release after most of the footage was lost. A lot of work was put into it though so to make up for it I put together a lil' something to hype everybody up, some saved premiere stuff as well as some random adverts I made to add to the movie. I notice it randomly gets a bit laggy whenever the background goes black, thankfully it doesn't affect things too much, except the credits which flash by in a second. It simply just says I MADE IT and special thanks to trooper and scatterbrain for all their help and contributions.

Great movie, though it's a bit of a mammoth, and often very confusing and slow, but that's usually unavoidable in a chain movie. As has been said, Ben Rice hogged the beginning a bit, but thankfully the lengthy scenes by the guys at the end make Rice's scene fit a lot better in the big picture, making that kind of the tone of the movie. I apologize that my part was pretty short and lame, wasn't quite feeling the 3dmm spirit so much at the time. Copper's part after that was brilliant though, holy shit have you improved man! Are you also the one that did the guy with a bunch of sunglasses bit? That was hilarious. Another stand-out moment, Old Rivers I think, when Willy's dad was beating Willy as a child, "Here's comes the chair!" Amazing, made me lol for a while.

Good stuff guys. Was really expecting it to fizzle out entirely at the end, but you guys really ended it so well that this movie really feels a bit more like an epic chain movie, rather than just a long-ass convoluted one.

i have given it a shot and am definitely 100% unable to youtube this film. someone else has got to do it. where's SUPACAT when you need him

going in for a review, this was fantastic. despite the controversy of my very long segment i felt everybody else did a great job continuing the story i set up. i was never expecting the tone to remain serious when my part finished, the only reason i gave it that feel was to add element to the whole scenario with the default 3dmm movie characters all being thrown into the mix.

haha watching this so long after making my part i can see how i really didn't need to stick in the VISITORS movie aliens in it at all, i did love at what dan did with them though, the leaders face and the '...WHAT' cracked me up.

there wasn't really anything about this film i didn't enjoy, this became my favorite chain movie long before it was even finished and nothing has really changed. this was great fun to watch, as well as be a part of. and i don't care what anyone says, i'm really proud of my part, it kicked off the story, has plenty of what i felt were some good 3dmm jokes and possibly some of my best animating.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

ok whatever, i guess i'll just go eat arby's by myself, you fucking jerk

you must find the bomber, or jesus will cry

*it can't be true* ...SAY THAT AGAIN.
aha, your karate kick animation, is the STA-HOOP-IDEST, i've ever seen
the second SAY THAT AGAIN put me in complete stitches, absolute gold, dan. reminded me of your impression of billys walk fast animation at the meet :P

only dr willy knows that and he's dead...REPORTEDLY

gustave being a back seat passenger. HEY GUYS CAN WE STOP FOR A MINUTE I WANT TO BUY A MAGAZINE!

anymore visions?
YEAH. ME WITH YOUR MUM. NOW FIX THAT TYRE.

the chair orgy. haha holy shit patrick that cracked me up.

compcats lil psychedelic scene with gustave having a vision, that was cool man.

IT IS I, THE SUPERVILLAIN WHO WEARS A LOT OF SUNGLASSES

the megabomb being loads of normal bombs sellotaped to eachother

GUESS WHAT CRASH ROBOTS I JUST PUT A BOMB IN SPACE!

AHAHA...STOP NOT SO FAST. AHA ALL RIGHT HIGH FIVE?

oh shit, did i forget to mention the tree bombs? perfect last moment trooper.

this film is GOLD.

You rang?
(there's a couple of scenes where the voices overlap a little, but otherwise things seem to sync up fine)

Ditto on everything Rice said; this was a great watch with a brilliant level of quality, and for a fifty minute film it keeps a steady, engaging pace. Fantastic work!

Great film guys i am proud of you all that we eventually got this finished, as it is most probably the last ever long chain movie to ever be finished i am proud to have a part in it (even though it was pretty short) , a great job by all!

Really good film, one of the best i've seen in a while. My part seems really out of place though, although weird to note it becomes a central plot element. Great effort all round really, would like to do another sometime.

hahahahaha trooper, your last part was one of the best things i've seen. the whole bit with that took place on the chair was terrific (the reveal of cop billy at the end made me laugh a lot) and the look of all of them riding on/alongside the Farfetch'd was terrific (i was really hoping it would reappear) and of course the chairs all falling back to their original places. the credits were fantastic and the "oops, did i forget to tell you about the tree bombs" line had me in tears.

of course everyone else did an amazing job, i just mentioned trooper's specifically because it was the only thing i hadn't seen over and over and over...

favorite lines:

i guess i'll go eat arby's by myself, you fucking jerk

only dr willy knows that, and he's dead.... REPORTEDLY!!

...and while this may be the most important discovery in human history, i doubt this is the one you were referring to.

oh shit, did i forget to mention the tree bombs

this thing went beyond anything i expected when i made the idea thread. WELL DONE, all. very glad this finally got released!

Inconsistent (shocker) but entertaining. My favorite part by far was the Microsoft Kids office during the chair destroying montage.

This kinda made me wanna make something now...

this blew away my expectations. im going to watch it again before I go into detail about peoples individual parts. I remember receiving the movie from ben rice and wanting to throw in the towel because ben set the bar so high right off the bat, I was even a little annoyed at the magnitude of shit I had to follow up on(especially the space plot right the end)however I quietly contained my bitterness and after a few days I buckled down and made something. I wish I had maybe put a little more substance into my part but overall im just happy to be a part of this movie(possibly the LAST 3dmm chain movie??? ) , and Ben's part really gave the movie a solid sense of purpose for everyone that followed so in the end everything worked out amazingly.

Okay, now heres the real question for everyone...

Would this movie, be the best 3dmm movie ever created? I think its somewheres within that range.

Not the best ever. Maybe one of the best chains? Too hard to actually give out that title though.

Old Rivers (first part):
Awesome. So glad you got to do a much bigger second part because I loved this and it's a shame it was so short.

Blue Cardboard:
Dude, good for you. You are like what Compcat was to Skeleton Invasion. Your scene was the seed for everything that followed. C4 under a wooden chair is like the symbol of this movie and that's down to you.

Ben:
"Charred arm" made me laugh so hard for some reason. Like, not even the stuff about "if you recognise it" that comes after. Just the term "charred arm", man, I'm smirking as I type this. So yeah, you got so much stick for the length of your part but whatever. The fact is, this is maybe one of the last ever big community movies we do and you had the awesome idea to bring in all the Socrates movie heroes and villains. The way that you used certain aspects of those characters was great too, like using Willie's blue chemical as the explanation for his skin, and using Gustave's ball as a weapon. Your scripting is pretty awesome by the way. Did I read somewhere that you're studying something related to writing? I could tell. Like, "This party has started early and as usual, the lame people turn up first" is such a good line. Maybe it's kind of Hollywood'y and clichéd, but it suited the situation down to the ground. My criticism would be that the spaceship thing was unnecessary, as was the scene where Patrick debriefs the police. But good job man.

Dave Miles:
Beautiful as usual. That scenery and cigarette smoke, man. Nicely done. Loved the altered Howdy Theme too. So good. Laughed a lot at the waiting room scene and haha, was the Billy in the police uniform meant to be the same Billy from earlier? Either way, I'm glad you introduced that extra Billy. Made for some funny stuff later on.

Dan:
Excellent music as per, from start to finish. I'm still learning so much from 3dmm about how to write stuff in a funny way and your part in this movie taught me so much about the power of interruption. "And if we don't do someth-", "Is the sta-hooopidest th-", "Billy's kara-", "Surely you need more than th- HE IS VERY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES". It makes it so much better. Loving the Skeleton Invasion reference with Willie's "YES" and man, "REPORTEDLY" is one of my new favourite 3dmm movie lines.

Scatterbrain:
The Queen's voice was excellent. No idea how you can do that with your manly-as-fuck voice. As with Blue Cardboard, I'm so glad you planted the seed of that mixtape. I love how often it pops up in the movie from then on. I was actually a little bit annoyed at how good your part was, haha. I was pretty happy with my chair hunting montage and then you stroll in with fucking Chairiel and the chair orgy with the mixtape music in the background. Fucking brilliant. I also love the delivery of "I'll have another beer please".

Tuna:
Loving how you pulled out a minor line from my part and used it as a major plot piece. "Claudia Schiffer?!" "You home-wrecker!" Damn, I laughed so hard. In my top 5 moments from this movie

Nickson:
damn, I really wished you'd done more. That was great. I came close to putting IKEA in my montage bit so I'm so glad you got it in there.

Compcat:
Hahaha, damn, the old man noises make me laugh every single time. The heroes are trying to talk and then fucking "HOHH. HOHHHH!" and the car is just shaking around, haha. The vision sequence was great. Music was perfect and I really love "It's all so clear now". Laughed pretty hard at how the chair in the vision is on fire and then when one of the guys suggests fire as a weakness, it turns out to be the wrong answer.

Copper:
First sequence is animated so well. I particularly love how the tube gets whipped out of Patrick and the way the chair collapses into the building. Haha, is Jim Slimquick original or did you get that from somewhere? I want to have that as my go-to funny name if it's not been taken from somewhere else. Made me laugh pretty hard. The scenen in Willie's house is kind of slow but you made up for it with the "WeeeeEEEeeeee". Slows down again after that but, again, you brought it back with the sunglasses guy. Fucking golden moment right there.

Will Mason:
I love how you immediately put an end to Copper's desire for a final fight. Not sure I've heard your voice before. Really liked what you did there, particularly the old man in the care home. The introduction of another bomb was pretty crazy but I think by the end it had become a joke that there were so many different bomb plots on the go (hence my tree bomb joke), so I can't complain. I love the burning crown falling out of the sky. Pretty hard to spot but so funny. Lab scene is fucking great - "a bomb ... with lots of other bombs sellotaped to it".

Cubert:
Sexy explosions. My anti-bomb was gonna recombine the debris to recreate the chairs but I knew I couldn't live up to what you'd done so I had to settle for dropping them out of the sky. I also have to say, I think "Phillip!" is not only my favourite line in this movie but among my favourite 3dmm lines of all time. Your voice is kind of quiet in other parts though, which was a shame. Also, what the fuck? You just set off the super mega bomb as the very first thing in your part, haha. I was so shocked. Extra points for balls.

Old Rivers (second part):
The mood fluctuated slightly because man, the scene with Crash sneaking into the lab was pretty intense, as was the establishing shot in the cityscape with the electric guitar music. I thought shit was about to go down. But yeah, those scenes have a bit of an odd contrast with the other stuff, which is hilarious. Willie's flashback is absolute genius. Nobody really bothered to give a reason for his villainy but that was fucking perfect. Hahaha, I love your Officer Billy voice too. The number of times he says "Willie" in your part is brilliant. As for your little Bridge Over Troubled Water part, I really thought you were going to break into song after Willie's "because...", so when that didn't happen, I just had to do it myself at the end. The DVD segment was great too and then everything from "no repercussions" to "I hope my story was helpful" is literally a laugh every 5 seconds. Your Crash's voice is so great. The space bomb's entrance was another awesome, moody shot but with some awesome humour added in with the use of "It appears to be a chair WITH A BOMB UNDER IT". Really well done man.

Also, fuck you all for leaving me with no living villains to fight, haha.

Haha, thanks for the comment mate.
Yes, I did in fact originally wrote that Jim Slimquick thing (at least I believe I did), so yeah I love how you want to use that, go right ahead, haha. Also im surprised that you (among everyone else) loves that sunglasses supervillian, that really means alot to me.
That concept was actually based off a true story, I was just joking around with a couple friends untill I find a box completely filled with those stupid RealD glasses (The 3d glasses that are given to you at the movie theater that kind of looks like sunglasses, my sister collects them) and to be an idiot, I put all of them on. One of my friends then said "You look like some retarded supervillan" and this took place just the day prior to finishing my entry.

Also to conclude, this is my 2000'th post so to celebrate, here is a picture of a penguin.

The only reason im not releasing any 3dmm movies is because im working on 3dmm movies. I have several movies in my folder that I wont release like ever, for several different reasons.
