Quake 2 Strogg Guards
TailsRoberto's Avatar
Description:
The Strogg guards from Quake 2, complete with sounds!

The Quake 2 Guards, ripped straight from Quake 2.

Also included: The sounds they make in-game.

Tools Used:
SLADE3 to access the files inside Quake 2's .pak format (How I got the models, textures and sounds)
7Gen to port it to 3DMM.

Notes:
Pale white clothing - Shotgun Guard
Red and blue clothing - Light Guard (Blaster)
Gold and black clothing - Machine Gun Guard

The animations also contain alternate versions after the animation has played.
(E.g. the attack animation does all different variations of attack in one animation)

Animations:

Pain:
1st - Weak hit 1 (Blaster Attack for example)
2nd - Weak hit 2
3rd - Medium hit (Normal Shotgun or machine gun)
4th - Strong hit (Guard goes flying, most likely machine gun guard since he has the best armour out of them...)

Death:

There are about 6 death animations in one (1 or 2 have "final shots" in them)

Attack:
1st - Shotgun attack,
2nd - Blaster attack,
3rd - Crouch blaster attack,
4th - Machine gun attack.

Walk:
1st - Searching (Shotgun guard and light guard use this one)
2nd - "Marching" (Machine Gun Guard uses this)

The crouch animation is supposed to be held at the 3rd frame (where he is taking cover) for how long
you want him to be like that, so that when he's finished just next frame with him until he stands up.

The Run animation does the running, but then they do some sort of block or run-pain animation, so that'll mean having to reset the frame of the anim to the beginning just before they do it.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted already since it's done in like < 5 minutes

Is there no way to separate each action? Having all the pain actions in one option/selection/whatever would be a bit of a pain.

I could probably use Misfit Model 3D which was what I used to see if the textures were OK, since it has an animation mode, but it would take a bit of editing and I'm not sure if I'll be able to cut and paste the extra frames in a separate action rather than them being combined, I know I could delete them, but it'll be more useful if they're separate...

I could easily do this with a little patience.

You can do this in just a couple seconds using one of the thousand Quake 2 MD2 editors.
