Release - 3DMM Paletterizer (0.4)

How to use:
  • Start up 3dmmpaletter.exe
  • Drag Image files into the tool window
  • Click Convert to process the image
  • Find in the directory of your input file a paletted version with the file ending *.3dmm.bmp
Supported image formats:
  • Targa
  • JPEG
  • Portable Network Graphics
  • Windows Bitmap

Downloads:
>Latest (Version 0.4) <

> (Version 0.3) <

> (Version 0.2) <

> (Version 0.1) <

> Source Code (Version 0.4) <

FAQ:

What is this?
This tool takes a texture and converts it to 3dmm's palette properly instead of letting 7gen do it. This results in a much clearer texture without that annoying noise effect all over it and without messed up colours. That is because 7gen applies an effect called Floyd-Steinberg-Dithering.

When I launch the app it complains about a missing file called mscomdlg32.ocx, what should I do?
Download the newest version! I have fixed the need for that file since version 0.3.

Once again, why the hell would I need this?
To prevent your texture from looking like this.

I may have asked this before, but I don't suppose there's a way to make it keep playing movies when it's not the active window?

(this is great by the way!)

This is brilliant. I've been tempted to do a "Magic of The Internet" style movie for a while now but the palette issues were holding me back.

Alright, so I made a little program which re-activates 3dmm in the back until you click, apparently losing its fake focus. there is no real way of keeping a form active unless I deassemble the 3dmovie.exe and wipe out that focus check... I need to look into that some more I guess. Do you plan on doing things while 3dmm is running in the background?

it'd just be nice to be able to watch a movie on one monitor while dicking around on the internet on another one at the same time. but obviously this isn't a high-priority thing at all.

Very cool! This is a must-have program!

And on my old 98 machine, if I messed with minimizing and maximizing the 3dmm screen 4 or 5 times, it'd keep playing while minimized. A windows glitch definitely, but it was pretty reliable. I used it when syncing big long sequences (and had to wait 3 minutes until I found the part I wanted synced up)

Whether in admin mode or not I'm getting an error saying my "version of comdlg32.ocx may be outdated," and that it failed to load and stuff. I'm on 64-bit vista btw.

Try renaming the .ocx I provided into something random, if that doesn't work I'm looking for 64bit binaries

Edit: I can actually compile a version without the Common Dialog Control, will be up soon with an alternative

new version is up! In that one you can drag and drop the texture into the window, will add support for multiple files later!

K, it's working now. And it's pretty cool, wish I had it back when I was mass-converting a bunch of textures from video games.

Hey Eukos, I don't think this program functions on Windows 10, cause it does not want to load up on my computer. Can you help me out on this, please and thank you.
