Plot Summary:
Belgium, 1944. A young American marine struggles to deal with the horror of war after a mortar attack on his camp.

SHRAPNEL

I started this movie in 2006 but abandoned it shortly after when I lost interest. The bulk of it was made between August and December last year after a long time away from 3DMM and 3dmm.com

Since then it's taken a year for me to add the final touches and get it to a point where I'm ready to finally release it. I've had some issues with audio capture so if someone could youtube this I would greatly appreciate it.

Having said that, I hope you enjoy, I certainly have enjoyed making it.
And please, let me know what you think.

Edit: Thanks to Nickson for the youtube link!

wow man, that was good, really really good. you certainly have an eye for some decent angles and shots, many of which are difficult to pull of in 3dmm but you've done a great job here. the scenery was beautiful in most places, the animation was fairly slick and the voice acting wasn't so bad either! the story was easy enough to follow, the only downside is obviously not all the characters being edited models to fit the time period of this film but nevertheless this is some impressive work you've done here.

great work steve, well done

Very good shit! There were some great scenery shots in their, I really respect the effort for dragging the guns and helmets along with so many of the characters (I know it's a lot more work than it appears), and the story was very understated and effective, unlike most serious 3dmm movies which tend to go way over the top. Great work, dawg.

Thanks, downloading now and i will put it up on youtube too

edit: Wow that was awesome, so much attention to detail in every shot, loved it, the picture after the credits was a nice touch too, when movies like this get released it fills me with hope that 3dmm isn't dead, and i hope for more great movies like this to be released in the future.
I really do hope this gets attention and feedback from more people though, just like i wish other great recent releases had gotten.

Youtube version will be up in a couple of minutes.

Thanks Nickson and Compcat.

What a wonderful movie. Great story, I liked the realism of it. Great shots, especially the opening one and credits. Great sound effects, really added to the atmosphere. I liked how it was a serious war movie, focusing on characters and not pointless action scenes. Very nice!

Wow, that was seriously impressive. The scenery was great, the narration was well done, the characters actually felt like real people you can have sympathy for (which is almost impossible in 3dmm). The photograph at the end was very nice. Seriously, just about everything in this movie is great. Except of course LITTLE RIVERS. jk.
anyway well worth the wait!

oh also, this might be the only movie to appropriately use the scenery backgrounds from Frankie's expansion and have it actually fit in well.

Thankyou to everyone for your comments and the really great feedback, I appreciate it so much it really makes all the hard work worth while.

I've been very busy this past year and I didn't find nearly as much time to work on the movie and visit 3dmm.com as I would of liked to, but it's been really rewarding to finally get it out there. I'm glad to see all is alive and well and I hope this movie encourages others to make more of their own!

Thanks to Compcat for re-uploading the file and to Nickson for the youtube link. And Old Rivers, sorry man I made the credits when I didn't have internet access and totally must have mistaken your name for Little River Band or something, but yeah thanks also for that proof-reading, that was actually one of the things that encouraged me get this movie finished.

I've been a member of this board for over ten years now and I finally feel like I've contributed something I can be proud of. So yeah, thanks again guys, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nice work. for 3dmm you managed to create quite a realistic atmosphere. the scenery is really well done, it's fairly minimal for the most part but you can tell you put a lot of thought into each scene.

Wow, that was excellent! As others have said, the scenery was really impressive in its simplicity and effectiveness, which could also be said about the story. Very well executed. Although the 3DMM actors' faces would be kinda funny (e.g. Gustave) if we weren't totally used to them by now, I was surprised at how well you pulled off the dramatic shots of their faces. Thanks for finishing this so long after most people have lost interest in/moved on from 3DMM, it was great to see.

Ha-hey, that was excellent! I figured we'd seen the last earnest, well-made 3dmm drama at this point, but this is great and would have been considered top-notch even at 3dmm's peak. I'd echo others in saying that you did a great job of keeping it subtle and understated, which is extra important in 3dmm where everything is teetering on the edge of looking ridiculous even in a best-case scenario. The scene construction and camera work was all excellent.

I do think it would have been nice if you had skinned some basic uniforms for the allies like you did for the Germans - it did seem a little silly for soldiers to be hanging out in the snow in shorts and t-shirts. Also I'm not sure Gustave with his massive grin was the best choice for the main character. But that's no big deal, we're all used to that sort of thing.

Great work! I definitely hope you continue working with the program.
