I have no problem with this. In fact, I think it's a good idea.

It's not "eugenics" at all. I think you need to look up what that actually means. The point of eugenics is to somehow improve the gene pool. This organization isn't done because drug addicts have inferior genes - it's because they're massively less likely than average to provide a stable, supportive environment for their children, due to, y'know, being drug addicts. Also, this is entirely voluntary.

Care to elaborate on why you think this is so awful, beyond completely inaccurate buzzwords?

Phil Williamson's reply is even worse than the idea to sterilize homeless drug addicts.

Felicia Le May, a former crystal meth addict who opted for sterilisation after having nine children, told the Sun: "At first I was scared, but then I thought, 'I have too many kids already.'

"They've suffered so much through having both parents addicted. I had my children taken away for two years because of my meth addiction. That was the worst time of my life. I didn't want to risk putting any more babies through the same thing."

And yeah, it's an incentive based voluntary practice, and it's not only steralization. In fact it looks like the majority were just given long term birth control like Depo or an IDU.

But I guess we should just be cool with anybody breeding as many kids as they don't want for any reason cause human rights or something?

I mean I'm not saying I'm 100% behind them, but I'm not disgusted by this by any means, and can understand people supporting it. It's basically free birth control for drug addicts.

But they get that in Canada already so I guess that's why I'm not shocked by this or something.

I'm still waiting for that awesome male birth control shot to be released. One small injection in your nutsack and your sperm is dead for years. I could raw dog for a long time without any worries.

I don't see anything wrong with this, if people want to get sterilized they will and if they don't they won't.

giving people who are in the grips of serious addiction money to mutilate themselves, yeah. that's a fucking great idea.

The incentive part is the issues here for sure. Free service? Okay. But rewarding it?

It's a bit expedient.

I mean I understand the organization's reasoning, but that doesn't mean it isn't exploitative.

"You can fuck and not have kids - which means less money on kids and more money for drugs! And fuck for drugs as much as you want without kids!" is really incentive enough I'd think.

And again they do offer birth control too, it's not just sterilization/vasectomy/etc.

So it is twisted, and they're going about it all wrong - BUT THATS BECAUSE THEAIRE A BUNCH OF OLD BITCHY WOMEN AM I RIGHT!?!?!9

Can't we just put sterilizing drugs in their heroin so they shoot it unknowingly. A lot easier, one would think.

yeah exactly. you can't honestly expect someone in the midst of a drug binge to make a decision like this when they might really regret it later on in life.

I support anything (within reason) that means fewer babies coming into the world. When are people gonna get it? THE PLANET'S FULL.

Yeah but we're talking about drug addicts and babies, two things that never go together. It's much better that they regret not having babies than to regret having babies.

If they are the type of people to make impulsive regretful decisions like this for money, they shouldn't have babies.

i'd support this if they would make it more inclusive. they are plenty of people who aren't addicted to drugs that shouldn't have kids and could probably really use $300. most americans, for example.

True, basically anyone who wants to give up their future children for money should have that opportunity. It is kind of twisted, but because you'd have to be really fucked up or really anti-children to actually do that, it works out perfectly.

But still its just an opportunity. If they're that desperate for money, would you say the same situation but without that opportunity is a better alternative?
