This post is all hypothetical and for a play I'm writing:

I got a ton of stuff at a five-finger discount. Was a klepto for sure. Had about $2000 stuff in my dorm. I was good. The reason I was good was because I didn't think it was wrong, had no guilt. So I wouldn't attract attention. Eventually got caught trying to get 2 $200 jackets from a bike store. Had other stuff in my bag like an idiot. Was put in jail overnight. They said they were going to search my room. I was panicking the entire time in jail. Worst time of my life, thinking my life is soon to be ruined and I'm just sitting in a cell. Got home, my room wasn't searched yet. I called a friend to hold the stuff temporarily, sell it if he wants. He turned it all in to the cops. Spent another night in jail. Was slapped with 5 felonies. What followed was the worst year of my life. Smoked tons of cigs, was super depressed. Thought I would get kicked out of uni. Made my mom depressed. But I had a good public defender, this is my first time, I'm a uni student, so everything was taken down to a misdemeanor and 464 hours of community service.

You think you'd learn something from something like this. That's just something I like to tell myself to make me feel better about my mistakes. It reduces cognitive dissonance. I read this book called "Mistakes were made, but not by me", that opened my eyes to that kinda stuff. Did I learn stuff? Yes, but I didn't turn around drastically. i stopped stealing for sure. Didn't become a drastically better student. I did get MUCH MUCH closer to my mom and little sister though. When I was super super depressed, I realized that that's important. I'm still a horrible person though IMO, my mom pays for my uni, no job, I don't really study much. Only good thing is I come home every weekend to take care of my down syndrome little sister really.
