I don't think that this news gonna be bad, not AT ALL. first of all George Lucas, the guy who said THIS was okay and THIS was okay is not owning the franchise anymore - he also continuously refused to listen to his fans and told us lies like Greedo shot first. Now Disney's gonna take over and they do not try to explain the universe any further with the new movies, they will create new adventures. It cannot get any worse than the prequels, so I really look forward to seeing them.

that's just it. do we really need a new series of star wars movies? the prequels completed the original trilogy, even if they were full of stupid moments they brought a close to the story we all grew up with. i know star wars has an expanded universe of books, games etc taking place before, during and after the main series' story but to me personally, the story of the six movies following anakin skywalker becoming darth vader and his son fulfilling his destiny in his place IS star wars. to add further stuff to the name, you might as well just give it a whole new title in my opinion. they should just leave star wars alone what it is.

hopefully this means the long-promised star wars/jetsons crossover anime will finally happen

Star Wars is so burned in to the popular culture it is pretty hard not to exploit it. There are so many unnecessary Star Wars things out there, like the Clone Wars series, etc. they would continue to focus on little TV spin off things that slowly kill off the quality of the franchise. Now someone else (a whole team rather than just one "mastermind") is behind it all and they plan on doing movies again... Sounds like A NEW HOPE to me.

I don't know how to feel about another trilogy worth of films (at least) asides being kinda curious but knowing that it's coming from Disney instead of Lucas is certainly a boost.

certainly couldn't be as disappointing as the prequels, since my expectations will be so low.

I don't think I could accept the introduction of what I'm sure will be almost an entirely new set of characters (perhaps with a few brief appearances from old ones) into that world. When I've played the video games in the past I've been able to accept the new protagonist simply because they're standing there next to Luke or Vader or Yoda but this is going to be familiar surroundings with all these new people. I don't think that will be enough to make it feel like Star Wars.

it would be pretty awesome if they released a Star Wars animated movie in the animation style of classic Disney stuff, though.

What the fuck is it going to be about?

Luke, Leia and Han's stories have finished. If it doesn't continue with the Skywalker story, it's essentially worthless. Luke and Leia's inbred offspring? I don't think that's a story I want to see.

Siiigh, Hanna-Barbera is owned by Turner which is operated by Warner-Brothers.

Meet the Robinsons, Wall-E, or Buzz Lightyear of Star Command were the acceptable options

It'll focus on the dwindling interstellar economy caused by left-wing policies of the rebellion forces.

So Disney own Lucasfilm AND Marvel. What is it with great creators selling off their creations? Disney are slowly going to own everything, if they don't already...
