Canadian Politics

looking at this blog... http://3962.tumblr.com/ .. it seems like Canada has swung to the far right in a short period of time after the last elections. Of course they're not the only ones, as a lot of countries are going in a similar direction right now.

I wanna ask the other Canadian members here how they feel about all this. Is there any backlash? Or are most Canadians just oblivious to all this stuff happening?

I don't think any sensible people will vote for any party associated with Harper. Anything is better than this maniac.

America isn't the superpower it used to be. China is the most important country in the world right now. We're just getting a head start to be its little buddy like we are with America.

Don't you think that by the time the next election rolls around the damage will already be done, though? I mean that's like two and a half years from now.

With Evil Ash being the exception, most people don't think Harper is an evil maniac. That's how he's getting things done. He's not a crazy Tea Party right winger or even a G.W. Bush type conservative. He tends to try and lay low and get his parties' agenda passed with as little publicity as possible. He gets so much done without a lot of people even realizing it.

But as the blog states in it's title his party only got 39% of the vote, it won because the other parties (almost all left wing parties) split up the left wing vote.

Nice to see you taking a surprising interest in Canadian politics. And yes it's as boring as you thought it would be.

actually I think it's way more interesting than american politics other than, y'know, the stakes being lower. I watched the french-language debate just to practice my french last election but then ended up getting kind of interested, then when the NDP just blew through quebec (and like every liberal seat) and totally ruined the bloc quebecois, man, crazy stuff! you never get anything like that in america

[/huge loser]

I started being interested in it after reading about the robo-call fiasco. I think Canadian politics mirror US politics a lot so it is of some interest, it's sort of like, what effect are US politics having on the rest of the world?

It seems like Canadians are a lot less concerned with what's going on in their country than Americans, though.

Harper is the least public PM I have ever seen... so like, 5 of em.

We need Trump to donate $5 million to him so we know more about him.

YEAH. He was a wonderful guy. I lived just near him for a long while. So he was my riding and I got to help vote him to party leader. He also smoked pot sometimes! (But was supposedly a bogart [bless his soul, rip]).
