Nude surreal paintings (WIP) nsfw

I've decided to dabble in painting, so I hired a model to pose nude for some images, and I've been editing them into images that I am going to eventually paint. I know nothing about art, so Im kinda lost on what direction I should go.

I want these to end up with a kind of tim burton-esque, twisted, surreal feel to them. But still have an edge of hipster pop art. kind of simplistic. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'll show you what I've got so far.

Original iphone images:

There's another one I've been editing, but I think it may be too explicit to fit in with the rest of the series

I'm not so sure. I feel there is a distinct lack of bush going on here

Uhh I think the edited face on the first one looks so weird/creepy. Maybe it's cause I just saw the original. But I dunno, maybe you want it to be creepy looking like that. Anyway you should add some characters around her or something.

you can't photoshop a woman's face from a different perspective on like that without it looking weird and unnatural to me. now you said you were doing some Tim Burten thing so I thought maybe it's like some corpse bride shit. I have no idea.

but you're actually going to paint those so I guess it doesnt matter?

Yeah, this is a lot of space taken up by what are essentially you taking reference shots and photoshopping them weirdly. I'm absolutely interested in seeing the paintings, because your concept is kinda cool, and I like how this could turn out.

yea, guys.. these edited photos are reference pictures for him to work off of for his painting. This isn't about photo manipulation. The photoshops don't have to be very refined at all, actually.

question that i MUST ask:

what's with the backgrounds, i get the feeling they're just thrown in for some sort of random dreamlike/psychadelic atmosphere, seems a bit unnecessary, maybe put more thought into the backgrounds. cool distortion aspect though! just yeah, maybe consider a background that makes more sense when combined with the main subject matter

please disregard these suggestions if the backgrounds do have a particular meaning behind them, it's just as a VIEWER, i'm not quite sure what's going on back there!

I'm happy with the background for the first image. I wanted it to be barren, alien, colos that somewhat match her hair, and be "off" just enough to get the edge I'm going for without being anymore than a simple background.

The other two are just variations of the first image, and I am going to do a bunch more to those, especially the 2nd.

There started off as kind of a meaning, but I want to keep the focus on the visual aspects. No story or anything, just a transition of mood: relaxed/scared/twisted

Not bad. I don't wanna critique it too much since that's not fair at such a rough and early stage, but I would work on pushing the sense of line. I feel like some of the body parts are bleeding together, and the lines that ARE there (armpits, thigh) are a little thick. Also, the brush strokes (on the stomach, especially) seem jittery and random, instead of following the contours of the body.

Thanks a lot, I was hoping to get your input. Yeah, this very rough, basically just getting the right form and colors. That's good advice about the brush strokes, I admit I've just been scribbling them in without any technique. I'll be sure to blend them together and focus my future brushstrokes on following the form. And yeah, I'm definitely going to work more on the lines, I was gonna wait till I got the proportions and color right

Sorry I've been slow with this, life has been hectic and I haven't had nearly the free time I expected to when I started. Also painting it fucking hard, and I'm just pretty slow at it. So anyway, this is another update.

I want to make it much cleaner, and sharper, and make her face not look like shit. I basically want to make it a lot better, but I'm worried I'm nearing the end of my talent. Oh, and I still have to do the background. fuck. comments welcome.
