At Home with Mike and Sam Series Finale
Ben Rice's Avatar
Plot Summary:
The TTS talking troublemakers head out for one last misadventure. In this action packed finale, Mike and Sam must fight for their lives as they encounter their most dangerous life obstacle yet; the Postman.

So here it is, started all the way back in June 2009, life got in the way and delayed its release but it’s finally finished! There were plans for more episodes (this was in fact going to be a three part episode) but I really don’t have the time to use 3dmm anymore, I’m going back to university in two days for my second year. This in fact is quite likely to be my last solo 3dmm release (at least for a long fucking time).

A lot of hard work has gone into this one (to be honest I’ve been working on this non-stop since I released episode 7) so comments n’ feedback would be most appreciated! It should probably be noted that everything scene 86 onwards was made on windows 7, while everything before; XP. My computer sometimes goes slower and faster so I'm not too sure how the audio syncing is for other people, I've watched this movie in so many different random speeds and it seems to still be fine.

Mike and Sam has without a doubt been the most fun I’ve had using 3dmm, looking at the first episode in comparison to this one, it’s gone a long way in just eight episodes! If you haven’t seen the preceding episodes then CLICK HERE and HERE.

At long last, after a failed youtube mirror, we now have a vimeo version for everyone's viewing pleasure. Many, many thanks to Mr. Nickson for the trouble he went through to get this up and for putting up with me continuously bugging him about it, you're a star.

ENJOY!

God damn, this is way impressive. I don't know where you get the motivation for such epic animated sequences, but I definitely enjoy them. There didn't seem to be as many gags this time around, but I did enjoy the fly's "buzzbuzzbuzzbuzzzzzzzzzzz" thing as well as the general noises the characters made in the fight scenes. Fucking great conclusion to the series though.

i still don't really get what made you start with the whole postal pat thing associated with these movies, apart from this episode alone featuring a postman as the antagonist. unless i talked about it when starting it and saying something retarded after you made a postal pat reference or something. after all these years i really don't remember. though i do remember it all coming up after i finished the sixth episode, around the time postal pat actually came out.

nickson is meant to be working on a youtube link, should apparantly be done either tonight or tomorrow, certainly hoping you'll watch it

Right I'm gonna give you a sandwich of feedback, we'll start with something positive, then move on to my main gripe with the movie, and then end on a positive note.

You've got really good at action scenes in 3DMM, and as Compcat said it's amazing you still find motivation to do them, as you may have noticed I've strayed from that path. And I'm somewhat envious that you still got it in you to do that stuff! But yeah, you've definitely become quite the master of action scenes. In fact, let's get a bit more in-depth, there were particular parts of animation that I thought were fuckin great, I was sitting here like wow man, NICE, for example: the big truck as it skids across the road taking out cars and then turning, i also liked the subtle uses of augustins separate body parts, giving him that extra flexibility and realistic moments. I can see why Goro gave you that crown!

Alright, now that I've buttered you up a bit, get ready for the slap in the face:

The text to speech gimmicks really weren't doing it for me, in fact I found that they tainted the movie, preventing me from enjoying the movies slick animation and epic sequences as much as I should have. Most notably gustave's constant "yeseseseses". And the repeating of random things introducing themselves like "I am an ambulance, I am here to etc". I dunno, I guess overall we just have different senses of humour, or maybe you just didn't put enough thought into the jokes. Resorting to repetitive catchphrases and wacky ways of saying sentences, and perhaps hoping the text to speech voices were enough to make those things funny? I'm sure it works for some people, just not me.

That said however, it was great to just sit back and enjoy a Ben Rice movie in it's entirety without worrying that it was getting a bit too long for a chain movie part and how the hell am I gonna FOLLOW this , and what's more, it was triple the length of your chain movie part! And yet it didn't feel like that at all, it didn't drag much in places at all. Nice work! And You picked some great music to really give the action sequences that powerful tone. And you did a brilliant job wrapping up the movie sort of, why is the postman still alive if you don't plan to make anymore, YOU BONER.

Well done man.

Cool movie. Awesome action scenes. I agree with Dan about the humor, your sense of humor is really gay. Like it reminds me of this gay ass chinese kid from hs that thought he was funny but was really just really gay and people would force laughs around him to be polite. The only thing I thought was funny was the postman getting up, saying he's ok, then right then an ambulance hits him. The other funny thing was the fly saying buzz buzz. . The action scenes were amazing, really. I felt genuine suspense at the high way scene. Although at the very end the fighting got kind of boring. You should put some creative things for the fighters to do instead of punch, kick, punch.

back at uni now but my flat has no internet atm

thanks for all the feedback so far lads, i fully understand some of you not enjoying the humor in it. it's in this that the characters question the stupid things happening around them, a hint i suppose that even i am getting tired of it myself. it's questionable i suppose, this whole series was inspired by the young ones among other stuff. i'm sure it's noticable that it dragged on a bit towards the end, it was just getting to the point that i wanted to finish it and get it out the way before heading back to greenwich.

really appreciate the comments on the animation, haha you can admit to a little envy dan but you can take pride in that some of your movies motivated me to keep working on the massive action scenes. now and then i'd be sick of working and i'd watch jim mcgraff or something and then BACK TO BUISNESS

i kept the postman alive for a laugh, after everything he endured he's still smiling

hope you can get this youtubed soon nickson, it'd be a mission to do it myself right now.

The reason i haven't got around to doing the youtube thing yet is because my internet is being really bad lately and will take me like an hour and half just to upload this, will probably do it sometime during next week, but if anybody else can capture it who has good internet then be my guest.

Wait, why haven't I posted in here yet? I watched this last week and I loved it. I love to see people who outwardly hate each other teaming up like this, so the chase and fight scene were amazing to me. I definitely laughed out loud at a lot of gags (I wish I'd commented here immediately so I could be more specific). The animation was the most impressive thing for me though. Proves that you don't need constant custom scenery to make a movie that looks great.

i've already messaged nickson asking him to send me the video file and i'll put it on vimeo, unless it'd be quicker to do it himself, depending on how slow his computer really is.
