Previewing New Track

Haven't been on here for a while. Been working on music and potentially kick starting a career in it! Here's a track I've been working on. It's still private at the moment, so I can't embed the soundcloud tag.

Previewing to get some feedback. What do you think?

I think that the mix should be mixed up more. The entire mix has the same stereo effect, the same sort of delay between the right and left speaker. I found this track a little bit awkward at parts, because dubstep-style stuff typically REALLY plays with this stereo sound - every time they switch between one of the different sounds, they alter the stereo to make it feel big + crazy. On this track, it kept the same slick stereo mix throughout the "dubstep" parts (sorry if you hate that term, I don't know what to call it). For example, 3:05. I could see the mix here being like, the high-pitched arpeggiated chord would have an entirely different, really wide stereo sound... the wubby bass would be stereo with the opposite channel hitting first, and the cleaner bass would be a bit more centered for working with the arpeggiated chord's stereo... This is just a random idea, I have no clue which is why my mixes suck, but I'm just saying, this is the sort of constantly-changing effects I hear when I listen to this sort of music. I've raved about Justice - Cross way too much, but half the reason I love that album is how nuts they go with constantly messing with the stereo sound, making it 10x more interesting to listen to on headphones than on speakers. Aside from being cool though, it just makes it more comfortable, when you can hear all the different sounds fitting into their space in the stereo mix. With this entire track mixed to have 1 speaker hitting first, my ears honestly felt uncomfortable by mid-way through.

Otherwise it sounds cool though. Professional sound (which is why I'm being so specific with my criticism - I think you could make stuff professionally). How are you starting your career in music?

Thats some really good advice. Thanks man. I'll play around with it. Which is why I've kept it private. Trying to hear as much criticism as I can to improve the track. I can see where you're coming from with the stereo stuff. I've always had a bit of problem mixing and mastering my tracks. I could never get it spot on.

I'm going to make a demo and hopefully send it out to some labels. But at the same time, trying to do some research and start Djing. I've always liked producing stuff, but I have no way of performing it. I've got an ableton controller, but I think as a EDM producer, being able to DJ on decks is somewhat an essential quality. So I'm looking into investing in some CDJs to start practicing. Eventually, I'd like to start doing some small clubs and work my way up.

cool tune, nice groove! the dubstep hook thing is awesome but I don't like the bass drum build up to it being even (like straight 16ths or whatever) when everything else has more of a triplet based/shuffle feel. I really think you should do something else for both those build ups. otherwise the tune is pretty solid, great work!

Really cool song, man. Not really in a position to give any major criticism, but I'd say don't be afraid to go crazy on some parts... Also go mad on the drums at parts too, they usually drive a track for me.

Totally grooved to it though, you should market the hell out of yourself though. Set up Facebook pages, etc. Send your stuff to UKF, VitalFM (YouTube channels), uDubstep - stuff like that and offer your music for free.

Nice, I pretty consistently always enjoy 1024MB tracks. Very brain melting. I hear what Lohr's saying, you don't use the dynamics of stereo too much in this one. But honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed. Kudos on making the track huge too.
