Ick Bittery

So, Drivemouth is done.

Drivemouth was always me learning the ropes; One Six and Hand :I EPs were me getting my feet wet, Strike a Pose was a shot in the dark, The Imperfectionist was my first real self expression I've ever really had, Pink & Blue was me learning about the art and science of production, and finally, Off The Ground was me learning about songwriting with the bare essentials.

And so, the ropes have been learned. "Ick Bittery" is a name I've had in my back pocket for a while, and I completely forgot about until last night. And with that name, I shall make the ropes my bitch.

Among my plans for Ick Bittery: Continue pushing the envelope with my writing, production, and self expression. Play some live shows. Have a way more social and interactive base with which I can communicate oftenly, and share my process.

Phase 2 starts now

OH almost forgot. Yes, "Ick Bittery" is a 3dmm reference. 5 points to anybody who can find it.

And I am interested to see if BR actually likes this name, because he really really hated Drivemouth.

On the bandcamp I linked to above, there is one unfinished track. It's still definitely me, so don't go in expecting Kyle Magocs or something.

yes, just before Drivemouth it was the name I was planning on using, but nothing ever came of it. I stumbled upon it in my list of neat phrases/good sounding words/unused lyrics and tada! BUT, it does come from a 3dmm movie.

As a name, it is alright. But it isn't as memorable or typable as an upstart might want. It IS unique and it IS indeed a reference, but to the casual listener or even the hardcore listener, it is going to be tough to understand/remember/type.

I'm not saying change, I am just saying that you outta give some thought to the perspectives of the completely-out-of-the-loop. Drivemouth, to me, sounded like a heavy metal or too-hard-rock band. It wasn't, but I wouldn't have given it my time of day without either album art or word of mouth.

To keep Ick Bittery as a band name (it sounds more like an album or single), you're going to need a strong logo and/or clear and distinct sound. But that's just my opinion.

haha, that is pretty great, it has a narrative to it, stealing of identity, revealing the REAL YOU, maybe drivemouth was a superficial tom breed, but someone TOOK HIS WIG and he is exposed as the real, genuine, BALD TOM BREED, ready to share his raw thoughts and feelings without sugarcoating it to please his audiences

Just checked out the song on the bandcamp and it's really quite great! So good job. Probably one of my favourite things I've heard from you. Not sure how I feel about the name though. I do like how it rolls off the tongue in the opposite way of Drivemouth which had no hard consonants etc.

Hey thanks Bz. If you like that track, you'll like the rest of the album plenty

yeah that song is pretty catchy, your voice sounds good here. I actually prefer it on its own as opposed to layering the vocals like you typically do, but that's just me.

This album is going to be a little more of this style, so maybe it'll appeal to you more! This song is actually a few versions old, and I still haven't written a bass part yet.

I'm really working hard on my vocals which is definitely my weakest attribute no question, so it makes me happy to hear that you find it listenable

yeah I don't think the name is too catchy, sorry. and it sounds a little...punk-ish. or like a name of a spinal tap member. AND it's impossible to tell what the logo is supposed to say WHY ARE YOU SO AWFUL AT EVERYTHING TOM BREED

I'm cool with that name. Certainly better than Drivemouth.

No offense but all your band names make you sound like you're a musician from England. :\

No, but you know. Most good band names you can think of have at least a double-meaning, or something like that. Ick Bittery doesn't really, it just sounds like a silly name. But it really all depends on what the music sounds like. If the music is light-hearted and fun, I think the name works. If the music is serious, I wouldn't like the name. (I haven't listened to the music yet.)
