Fix "Oops!"-Error on 64-bit Windows

Hi there,

just because it stole me 20 minutes again to figure out what I was doing wrong on my Windows 7 x64 machine and because I couldn't find this little fix of the fix on this forum, I post it again for myself and you too.

Here is the OGG Vorbis uninstallation script for 64-bit systems: http://pacman.highfsb.net/3dmm/oopserrorfix.zip

On 64-bit Windows, the keys which have to be removed are in
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
not in
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

Duh.

Thanks! Mirror here. And it'd nice if a mod could edit it into these two threads:

Oh my God, this thread saved my bacon. The inf file in the Expansions thread wasn't working. Maybe add this to the list.

This way seems to be outdated a bit, I think

It says Windows NT, so I assume this tactic won't work on Windows 8.1

no, the registry directory is still called "Windows NT" even in Windows 10. this should work fine on modern versions.

Don't forget that simply right-clicking the INF files and selecting "Install" does not work on most newer systems (they only allow you to execute that action with admin rights).
Just go to the above mentioned registry key and delete the "vorbis.acm" key manually.

PS: I'm not sure why my old "Pac-Man" account cannot post anywhere anymore, so I just created a new one. Crazy that I had to look up my own fix 6 years later. Maybe I compile together an actual executable patch later on.

Turns out, you have to right click on the link or else it will just take you to a blank page.

Edit: I get this message when I try to open it:

G:\oopserrorfix.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged

I put it onto a thumb drive.

IT WORKS!!!!! IT WORKSSSSSS!!!!!!!

So I had troubles and made a post, thinking I would get help. A month passes, and I decided to google this. Apparently, there was a hidden Vorbis codec that I had to delete. Thank you for letting me find where it was again. I'm most likely going to put this in my bookmarks just in case this Vorbis thing gets in my way again.
Thank you.
