Ha-hey that was excellent!

Thoughts:

Aaron Haynes: My favorite entry. The detail on Gustave's movement is great. Definitely resembles something a dog would do.

Dominator Dan: Excellent! The scene at the end was one of the best things I've seen in this program.

Evil Ash: Haha that was creepy, but well done. The silhouettes at the end were great!

JT Copper: I laughed at the pointing in the second one. Didn't really understand the third one. The timing was really good throughout though. Good job!

Nickson: Very funny, but I felt it ended a little abruptly. Nevertheless, it was quite good!

Pankrial Steve: I didn't get the joke, but I'm probably just dumb. It was still entertaining though!

Trooper: The weird combination of people in the heart attack one was really funny! Also, the fact that it was the "boo" that finished him off. The printer one made me laugh a lot too.

Also, an amazing intro from Mr. Pankrial Steve. Excellent job on this! I look forward to your next movie.

Fantastic film!

That was awesome. Thanks a lot for compiling, Steve.

My "Surprise" has ballsed up a bit though. If anyone is going to Vimeo this, I'd appreciate it if you could add "Geist Good part4" to the start of Scene 40. It's magically disappeared for some reason.

I liked the intro with all the overlapping voices, although the Patrick stuff didn't make a ton of sense to me. No big deal though, it was fun and the explosion was cool.

I thought the compilation itself was pretty weak, though. The footstep sounds were missing from mine, there was a MIDI missing from Trooper's, you didn't cut out the credits from Old Rivers' entry or the text from JT Copper's entries. Some of the entries bogged it down, too, Old Rivers' is too slow (despite being good) and JT Copper's didn't make any sense (apart from the mummy one, which was funny in it being so straightforward). There's a bit of a grey area here, but I would sometimes cut the dead air in Big Movie entries to keep the thing moving, which would've been a big help.

Sorry, I don't want to be discouraging, the intro's fun and I hadn't seen the Bongo one which made me laugh. But there's a lot of little things that would've helped a lot (especially fixing the two entries that don't play correctly).

Thanks for the comments so far guys. I would've like to have included the other entries that weren't uploaded but at the same time, kinda wanted to get them all compiled and release it before people lost interest.

Unfortunately, it seems my v3dmm deleted several sound effects and some music without me knowing, so my apologies to those whose entries where affected.

Thanks for the feedback as well Aaron. I had considered editing some of the entries, particularly JT's cause it's three different lines, but in the end decided to keep all the entries as they were submitted. Also I didn't want to cut Old Rivers' credits and leave Dan's in, it seemed slightly disrespectful. I still tried to maintain a nice pace with ordering and such but, yeah I can see what you mean, it does lag at certain points. It's really disappointing about the sound effects too, I watched it through twice before I uploaded and didn't even realise.

All in all though, I was impressed with how the entries flowed together, I reckon it turned out to be a pretty cool compilation.

Oh, and the intro wasn't supposed to make to much sense. My idea was basically a sort of a trailer for a movie where a strange infection spreads through misty city and turns all the default characters into enhanced v3dmm versions of themselves who seek only to convert other "defaults". Only Patrick remains default and fights back and- ... yeah it's basically a PAM.

hahah wow yeah the intro i think you got a bit obscure with, where just a silly little straightforward DEFAULT LINE reference would have sufficed as you did right at the start, probably should have just left it at that, it was a well done intro though i give you that, nice work compiling, just a shame part of the intro was a bit lost on people

but yeah i pretty much agree with everything aaron said, those things stuck out for me too. also to jtcopper: haha at billy creaking into shot a la jim mcgraff at the end of HANDSOME MAN IN CHRISTMAS LAND YEAH DON'T THINK I DIDN'T PICK THAT ONE UP SIR

Despite its flaws, that does not stop it from being a great chain movie. Good job everyone!

Thanks Aaron. You really think this compilation deserved a 50% though, or is that just to round out the average rating? I mean sure it has it's problems but it's certainly better than average. I respect your opinion more so than most other directors on here especially for a movie like this, but I don't know, that seems a little unfair.

I didn't feel like the compilation added anything to the individual entries, which is the litmus test for any compilation project. When you're putting together a compilation, I think you have to make some editorial choices to ensure it flows smoothly. This sometimes means cutting down peoples' entries (the dead air in Trooper's "Let's Sprint", the timing on Old Rivers' "Those Bullies"), removing credits or text boxes that don't fit, cutting entries that make no sense, deciding how many short entries to put before a long one to break up the punchline timing. I didn't feel like you made any editorial choices outside of the channel-changing transitions. The entries were dropped in wholesale with no alterations for pacing, and in some cases the sound got bugged or lost and you didn't fix it before release.

50% doesn't mean bad, it means average. For a chain movie, this is pretty much par for the course, some good stuff, some bad stuff, little overall pacing to speak of. But a little presentation goes a long way when you're just working with a bunch of disconnected gags, and that's what I felt like this was lacking.

Also worth noting, if it had been smoother and more consistent, it probably would've gotten like a 75 or 80, because there's not a lot of content here. But that's how these things go, there's a short window of interest and you have to make the most of it.

Haha, so true. I see where you're coming from, and the feedback is always appreciated. I certainly didn't make the most of the compilation, you're right, but based on the quality of the individual entries I think the movie is quite strong. Of course, in order to rate it you need to look at the movie as a whole which is really where the compiling/editing side of things comes into play.

I guess I didn't really think about that when I put this together, but hey, if I ever make another I'll have learnt from my mistakes. Anyone up for Default Lines Round 2?

it was funny but sad when jerzy died and also when the guy couldn't say those bullies won't bother him now, it was really funny when the girl said wait up wanda. i hated luigi and the white noise static transitions are kind of tired
good job

p.s. is there any way to make v3dmm full screen, even when i change it in the options it's windowed

edit: got fullscreen by right clicking the v3dmm shortcut, compatibility tab, check Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution
