Chat room.

I know this probably won't happen, but I just felt like mentioning it.

It'd rock if we had a chat room. It needs to be very easily accessible. If it is IRC, you NEED to include the Java applet that connects to the IRC chatroom. Otherwise it would fail with our community.

It would have a counter at the top of the page, showing how many people are currently in the chat room. "Chat (6)", you click that, and it brings you right to the chat room.

Cool.

yeah mczaa has a shoutbox thing, and it gets quite enough messages

yeah scatterbrain, we had one at one point. more recently we had an IRC one, which as i said wouldn't be active enough because many of our members need a simple java applet where they can just click "chat" and connect, or they won't bother. it worked for a while, but died. if it was a simple Chat button on the main page, without requiring an IRC client, it would still be going i bet

Nah the splot machine on McZaa is what Lohr said, a "shoutbox". So its often not realtime discussion, but you can start something and someone will reply the next day or whatever.

Would work even better here. I think a lot of the lurkers may get involved.
