It takes a long time, but the cool thing is, Rockstar has finally implemented some awesome freeways, so you can actually make a pretty quick trip if you take the freeways.

But it can be really fun to drive between cities. The view out in the country and the desert is really cool.

I think the best two tips I can give someone who hasn't started playing it yet are these:

I. DO NOT TAKE THE FREEWAY UNLESS YOURE LEAVING THE CITY.
It's a trap. You're like, 'oh it's cool! I'll just use the freeway to get to the other side of Los Santos. I'll be there in 30 seconds!'

no. you'll be flying down the freeway trying to get to the west side of the city then the freeways like, 'ALRIGHT WHICH WAY YOU WANNA GO? LEFT OR RIGHT?' and youre ilke, 'STRAIGHT.' and it goes, "NO DUDE. GOTTA CHOOSE. LEFT OR RIGHT." then you go, "GOD DAMNIT. ILL GO LEFT." then next thing you know youre out in the middle of fucking nowhere trying to find your way back to the city.

II. Unless you're going downtown, travel by foot. .


It'll get you better aquainted with the hood that you'll soon be fighting over.

Hell. This is a rule I still follow with three days experience. But only because I'm on the turf wars portion of the game now. So the fight is RIGHT IN MY BACKYARD.

you know, it's crazy because i think of the mentality i had when I first started playing and the mentality I have now when I play. I mean I was always a sociopathic killa. but I really did get that feeling of being intimidated of a new city. Like I was really scared of the Ballaz at first. and getting lost is so god damn easy to do in that place. So I jtus walked everywhere. and checked the map every five seconds. and made sure there was no ballaz around.

Now I run around with my shirt off, sportin my tats and sunglasses carrying a shotgun and go, 'WHERE YOU AT BALLAZ?!' You really do get comfortable, and it really does show in the way you play.

The turf wars are so fucking awesome. There's no greater feeling than being pinned down between two houses and hearing gunfire and ricochets all around you.

The crouch and run is arguably the best feature added. Staying low and running across the street to get behind a car with the driver side door open and the windows blasted out as bullets fly over your head is so fucking cool.

And watch the maps for rivers and lakes. I often fall off the road and into the water, which takes 10 minutes to swim out of sometimes. And you cant drive against traffic in this game like you could in the previous GTA games. You get utterly fucked up by oncoming cars... they dont slow down at all.

TOTALLY. The gang wars have been my favorite part of the game thus far. The abssolute best update to GTA this year is the new tactical gunfight stuff. In VC there was no reason to be tactical, you just had to run out blasting. In San Andreas, you really have to be careful. You can duck down behind stuff as gunfire richochets off of nearby objects, and you have to pop up and take quick shots then take cover. Otherwise you get blasted.

You also have to be careful about picking your terrain to stake out during a gang war. Some terrain will really give you an advantage against approaching attacks.

Also, you can also do this awesome tactic where you roll out from behind cover and start blasting. I always do it, then roll back behind my cover quickly. And all of this, combined with the stealth tactics, which can be used together, makes for some awesome gun fights.

The gunfighting itself is actually better than a lot of tactical shooter games. It reminds me of the original syphon filter, which was pretty awesome.

Plus, couple this with all of the other awesome stuff you can do, and you have an awesome game.

The atmosphere in general is just better. I can't really point out why. maybe it's the new physics but everything in this GTA feels less ... insignificant. Everything has character and it makes it way more submersive.

This game has no flaws.

My first date with Denise, we walked to the night club together. cause I don't like stealing cars, unless it's an emergency or it's parked. So anyway, on our way there I spotted some Ballaz in the distance and stayed low as I ran up to them with a shotgun in my hand, and as soon as they turned to start shooting at me, I was already like 2 feet away and blasted them both. She was right there with me the whole time. It was romantic as fuck.

Yeah I like the fact that in this game compared to others there is more duck and cover shit, in vc and gta3 the 3rd person-like shooting was very basic. Where as in this one you there is manual aiming etc. Its amazing when your in the middle of the street behind your car, rolling behind and out now and again during a shootdown, AWESOME. Fuck the 3rd person shooter side of the game beats the fuck out of some games that are 3rd person shooter BASED.

Sometimes I do hate the travelling (during missions) If you have ever done that mission where you have to take photo's of all those ppl meeting up in the burger joint youll know what i mean.

It was funny this morning because I went up to Mount Chillard to see if I could see bigfoot, I could'nt and couldn't really give a shit either, but what I did find is a parachute and I was like YAY, Im gonna jump of the top of mount chillard!!!
In doing so I didn't really get enough jump and just hit the rocks a few feet below and died

SOOOOOO I went up there again and near where you get the parachute I saw a Flag and some sort of tourist information rock thing. I was like OMG RAMP!!!, got my Dirtbike that I came up on, Drove over the ramp thing and Im in the fucking air on my bike so god dammed high, BANG Triangle, down goes my bike, few seconds later BAng Circle* Cums *

This game's taken over my life. Just walking home today I thought about stealing this bike that was left there just so I could get home faster (While listening to NWA on my iPod).

This game actually makes me want to make myself more presentable too (ie: get around to dreading my hair, get some nice clothes and shit, join the gym).

...none too signifcant at least. Ive seen motorcycle cops parked IN the street, like just their heads were sticking out so naturally I tried jacking it, and yeah. I got on it stuck in the ground and couldn't move, and the cop ran over to me and I hit triangle to get off and he telported like 50 feet away to get out...

there's also times when your looking at a convertible and the guy inside just keeps dissapearing and reapearing all over the place, but the car stays there the whole time...

and sometimes you'll be driving towards buildings that you see from miles away, but when you get like 10 feet away driving up to it you slam into these other parts of the buildings that weren't there a second ago...

and then sometimes when you kill sombody they just don't die, and when you want to shoot a lot of other people around him its hard because you keep targeting the walking dead.

Also, Doing the first stealth mission again was not very rewarding whatsoever. I'd sneak up behind people and then hit circle and they'd just die and my guy wouldn't do anything, and it did that every time I was there...

Overlooked though, still wish it didn't happen though.

FUCK OFF CLOWN. Obviously the whole customising thing is there for a reason, but I know alot of people who have a pink mohawked CJ with an eye patch and shit and say the game suck's when they are just on the first part of the game.

I was simply saying that the gaming experience comes across MORE realistic for me with a realistic lookin character. Instead of looking like some kind of washed up wrestler without a good gimmik.
