Opening Notes - UGH. Ever since I reviewed TMBTM, there have been only 2 reviews in the database. This itself isn't an issue, but's there's one little problem - they both SUCK. Just look at this:

Nothing short of poetry... And how about this one? Quote:
While not as bad as the first one, it's still piss-poor. They're both WAY too short, and only acceptable for comments, not reviews. So I'm here to set the record straight with a real review. Peace out (AND LEARN TO WRITE!). ------------------------------------------------------ WeenFanMike has only been around here for a short while, and has already entertained us with 3 movies and a music video. How does he pull them off? That's beyond me. But what I do know is that his movies are great, and there's no better way to showcase this then by reviewing his first ever movie in the 3DMM community, Bothering Bongo. The plot, first off, is basically non-existent. But it doesn't really need a plot. The movie's just a collection of slapstick and silly antics that, in one way or another, all center around Bongo. It's simple, but effective, thanks to some great humor. The animation is nice. It's fluent and never seems dry or choppy. Body turns are executed perfectly, and the camera zoom ins/outs add a nice touch. And God, the humor...in a word, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life. It's like watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon, except it's a fat guy and two morons and their hilarious adventures. The timing is great, and the jokes never feel stale or repetitive. It's hard to explain it, but simply put, you will laugh. If you don't, you need to seriously consider getting a life. A downside? Well, yes - the pace is so slow in this movie. Remember my review of TMBTM and how I thought it had a slow pace to it? You can just copy that entire section, post it here, and just edit it around a little bit so that it fits Bothering Bongo. The pace here is a little more tolerable though, because the movie is relatively short. Still, the monotonous sections were nothing is happening are noticable, and keep this from getting a perfect score. Comedic genius can't always fix a slow pace, and this is no exception. That being said, this is truely slapstick at it's finest. With great direction and superb humor, this movie is a great comedy short. Spectacular entrance, Mike. Will and Joe themselves would be proud of this one. |
