Books, they are so pointless.

Hello friends. I just wanted to let you guys know that books are completely pointless in our society today. For instance look at this picture of books.

Now I know what you're thinking, you open these books, and there is information inside. Well, what if we took this information and put them onto some kind of device. Where you could read them. Without needing to physically open each page.

Look at how much space they take up. What if we could take these books, and put them on an electronic device?

there are already such devices on the market. Such as the iPAD and the NOOK and Kindle devices.

However, I propose that we get rid of all these devices, and I suggest a sort of disposable paper that is electronic that we could litterally throw away after each use, that would cost no more than $2.00 per book. Imagine the possibilities guys!

I am offended you don't understand. I'm very upset you don't get what I am trying to communicate to you. Very disappointing. >:|

I read Wikipedia.

I think it would KICK ASS if there were web novels available!

There is a store called Books Connection in Livonia, MI which is somewhat of a craphole bookstore that sells books made of cheap paper that doesn't last long. We might as well just convert it to an Apple Store so that we can get Livonia to have an urban renewal.

Books: no need for a power source, unlimited memory lifetime, and largely portable since 1450

The book as a physical object matters a lot more than the album as a physical object or the film as a physical object, etc. So, yay books.

Don't forget that Books also don't have issues interacting with third-party software packages, don't cost AU$700.00 for the basic 'starter' model and are entirely DRM free!

on this

what if I created a digital display you could read by projecting the words onto a smokescreen.
I obviously know more about technology than you don tickner and I can easily see the uprising in this kind of digital application. please don't comment on things I am obviously the prophet of. Thank you.

If modern civilization is going to collapse sometime in the near future, I really hope it does before these e-readers completely catch on. As someone with a kindle though, I can see them becoming to books what the ipod is to music in not too much time (not nearly as quickly, but that's just because books have been around a lot longer than recordings). (yeah, I know this is not a serious discussion, but I'm being serious. They will largely replace physical books if things continue as they are. Not saying they should though, they're just much more convenient, especially if you're an unsavory pirate such as myself.)

I can't read books on computer/ipad. It hurts my eyes after awhile. I can keep my nose in a book for an entire night.

I like physical books because people see your collection and they're like, "whoa, I see like 30 books. He owns them. He must of read them! What an intellectual."

when they see a kindle they're like, "what a trendy faggot. Did you buy that just so people would see you using it in public, fag?" Well that's what I'm like.

I use my computer way too much. It can't be good for my eyes. Last thing they need is another glowing rectangle to look at.

Even if I thought ipads and kindle or whatever it is, was a good idea, why would anyone need to carry around ALL their books with them? what's the point of that? and why would anyone order an e-book? If I'm paying money, no matter what it is, I want a physical copy of it.

Also if someone sees a plain book in your car, there's a really small chance it will get stolen.

I swear people just buy into this shit because they like the idea of literally carrying around their personalities.

Evan you idiot digital devices are not about replacing physical media they're for making the sharing of information easier and more instantaneous thus resulting in a more informed, socially connected, and mutually understanding (i.e. empathic) civilization which means less wars and shit GAWDDDDDD.

sharing a book is easy, though. you give it to the other person, who proceeds to read it.
