im glad you asked that, ar raven. first of all, juvenile snakes tend to be more aggressive than adults as a defense measure to keep people from fucking with them. secondly, rattlesnakes "learn" over time how to control the amount of venom they inject with each bite. an adult rattlesnake knows better than to inject his entire venom load at once with a single bite, because he might have to use more of it later; juvenile rattlesnakes, however, don;t have this control and tend to inject their entire load at once. that makes juvenile rattlers much more dangerous than adults, because although they might have comparably less total venom than an adult, its equally strong and they're still releasing way more than you would get with an adult bite. thus although you wouldn't want to back either an adult or a juvenile into a corner, i would rather face an adult than a baby rattlesnake. adults are only more dangerous to rats and other snakes
