rob green, what afucking bitch

we did not need a scott carson II in that, it was definitely the reason we only took a point from a game we couldve won, usa looked toothless in attack the remainder. I don't actually blame green though, it was a questionable selection in such a high pressure game, I had a bad feeling he would fuck up as soon as I saw his name on the scoresheet, I always had Hart to start on his phenomenal club form. also good to see a) gerrard scoring and b) heskey at least got an assist despite squandering a simple chance so wasnt a complete failure

I wouldn't usually analyse but I was only able to drink and watch it with my parents and their friends, therefore I got high and posted on 3dmm.com instead of having to talk with them

i'm usually of the opinion that people questioning a manager's decisions are idiots because obv managers know more than people in pubs. but seriously, lennon/swp/milner better than joe cole? heskey ahead of crouch (/defoe/bent)? capello obviously sees some utility in these players but it's fucking beyond me

gerrard shouldn't be captain, he's a fucking brilliant footballer but i can't see how he can inspire his team mates having never won anything short of a fluke champions league. lampard and rooney have both been key and influential parts of great teams and they're the players that the rest of the squad surely look to and think yeah, we can win this. gerrard stands out at anfield just like every good player they've had in the last 20 years, but i can't believe he's well respected amongst the england squad

i feel bad for green because he must be going crazy about what's happened, but i'd have had him as 3rd choice keeper

we'll definitely progress though and i have no fear of germany or serbia, so i'm confident for the time being

not that i give a shit

germany and serbia eh? written us off already?
i can't believe joe cole didn't get a run, ridiculous decision. heskey is largely useless but it seems he frees up wayne rooney to be wayne rooney. dunno about that though.
really john terry shouldn't have slept with wayne bridge's missus. it's unfortunate that rio got injured as well, but i really thought lampard would be made captain ahead of gerrard.

haha fucking hell. it was brilliant when that went in, i couldn't believe it

sorry to write you off mate! i don't think it's a sure thing, i haven't watched australia play in about 8 years but you usually have a couple of top players. anyone good in the team this year?

anyway my point remains that there's no-one in that group that worries me, so i think we'll make the quarters, then hopefully crash out so my britless fantasy football team can go on and destroy all my patriotic mates' teams

the thing with heskey is it's like carrick, like people say "you don't notice it but he improves the way the team plays" or he "plays an invisible role" and i just don't fucking buy it. how often do you see an actual replay illustrating how heskey has freed up space for rooney to score? maybe i'm being ignorant but i think it's bollocks

besides, rooney's never had a partner like that at united and he's done ok you know? i just think it's a waste to give this starting place to someone who can do nothing but slightly embellish rooney, when we've got crouch and bent, and even defoe to an extent, all of whom can actually kick a fucking ball

not really, no. we're actually going in with basically the same XI as at the 06 world cup. harry kewell is fit to play but isn't as good as he was and mark viduka is in a weird, nebulous state of will-he-won't-he with retirement and hasn't played for the national team since the last world cup (which is a shame, because we are very short on striking quality). tim cahill is comfortably our best player and our only realistic avenue towards goal, and he lifts like fuck for the national team. to illustrate my point, richard garcia of hull fc fame is in our starting XI i'm pretty sure.

do you think i'm the best 3dmm pundit? i see myself as the gary lineker of our panel, with rudi as my alan hansen, phil williamson as a moaning ever-negative mark lawrenson figure and mikepjbell playing the does-he-actually-know-what-he's-talking-about ian wright cameo role

death to germany

algeria vs slovenia was awful, if we didn't qualify from this group it would be tragic/hilarious

as far as i'm concerned he's the third best keeper behind hart and james, i said that when the squad was named. no idea why he's been picked. that "amazing save" he made in the second half wasn't even good, he just about deflected it onto the post, two inches to the left and it would've slipped into the net and he'd have played his last game of the world cup. he got lucky, should've got a bigger hand on it and pushed it wide

did you see slovenia's goal? that was even worse keeping, the keeper didn't even seem to move his hands toward the ball, he missed it by like a foot

i bet kewell can still turn it on

truly brilliant player. the goal at 0:40 is an amazing finish, and the last goal in the vid is one of the best long range strikes i've ever seen

the first goal in that vid is actually ruined by the gay editing, if you watch it properly his acceleration past the defender is unbelievable

you can see it here actually, it's the first goal in this compilation:

yeah, he was all class in his leeds days. i love that goal against arsenal, and that last one is absolutely sublime. he's a different player these days though, he's constantly injured and isn't as pacy. at the last world cup he actually got GOUT

yeah it does ruin it, it's best to just have the authentic commentary and crowd noise, although i guess sometimes they can't get that
