Off-topic vs. Cavalcade of Whimsy

Ever since I joined this site, I've wondered what the difference between the two forums is. I still have absolutely no clue, so could someone clear that up. Or are there just two to make up for the lack of actual 3d movie maker related stuff?

CoW is run by random members of the community (currently Damage Jackal and Kyle McJuicy) and is passed on to new members every so often. But by "run" I mean that they just ban whoever annoys them.
So in the end its the exact same thing as Off Topic / Testing Forum, except that some people are banned from posting in it.

cavalcade is more cliqueish so it has kind of a boy's-club mentality. usually polls about sex and stuff are in cavalcade

It's your go-to place for threads about taking a shit, eating meat, railing women, etc.

Haha, its funny like, to me there's a pretty clear difference between Off-topic and COW but there's no way a non-3dmmer would understand it. I'm actually pretty conscious about where I put threads. There are some that are definitely intended for off-topic and some that are definitely more suited for COW.

yeah I feel the same way. sometimes there will be a thread in one forum that really doesn't feel like it should be there at all and it's just sort of an awkward and uneasy feeling being in it

example: http://www.3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=37577

that thread would be just fine in the testing forum, but since it's in off-topic no one is really sure how to react

I agree with all three of the above posts

It really is weird how all three very much so serve the same purpose but theyre so distinct in what is appropriate to be posted there/not be posted there

I had noticed that I never really went into Calavade of Whimsy, though I thought it was just luck of the draw that I chose to go to Off Topic. I am obviously not avid enough of a 3dmmer to realize the difference.
